I haven't been sent an email yet regarding the Early Bird Sale. However, it seems that part of the promotion is double points. The Qantas website expressly provides "Four Continents. All Classes. Double Points". The problem is that I cannot for the life of me find the terms and conditions for this double points offer. Does anyone have any more information?

I received info about this from a cruise site.

Nothing from Qantas. Starts 23rd. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1411476577.660710.jpg

The Qantas website still seems not to elaborate on the double points, but the Australian yesterday (23 September) had an article which included this:
"The Qantas fares must be booked by November 19 and are good for flights between March 1 and September 30 next year. They start at $1724 return economy to London, $1586 to Paris, $1599 to New York and $1399 to Santiago.
Frequent flyer members who book in the first three weeks of the sale also get double frequent flyer points on Qantas operated flights."

Details on the agents site:

Qantas are offering our Biggest Early Bird savings to four continents plus the chance to earn double points.

Customers can enjoy amazing savings to hundreds of destinations in North America, South America, South Africa and UK/Europe with our biggest ever Early Bird Sale.

To be eligible for this offer customer’s need to:

Register and make a new booking on eligible Qantas International flights between 12:01am AEST 23 September and 11:59pm AEST 13 October 2014;
Travel between 1 February and 31 October 2015, and
Include the Frequent Flyer number of each member in the booking

The bonus points offer is available on the following flight numbers between Australia and London (QF1, QF2, QF9, QF10), Johannesburg (QF63, QF64), Honolulu (QF3, QF4), Los Angeles (QF11, QF12, QF15, QF16, QF17, QF18, QF93, QF94, QF95, QF96, QF107, QF108), New York (QF15, QF16, QF107, QF108), Dallas (QF7, QF8) or Santiago (QF27, QF28, QF321, QF322). Note, these flights depart from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

Remember, each passenger in the booking will need to register separately to earn the bonus points.

This great offer is on for a limited time only.

Terms and conditions apply refer to qantas.com/frequentflyer for full details.

This is pretty poor of QF IMO in terms of lack of notification via email and then no Terms and Conditions available on the site.

Why is it so hard for QF to get what appears to me to be a simple thing so wrong, surely they cant be that damned stupid in the marketing and IT departments or can they?

What hope is their for QF when simple things appear to be a mammoth task !!!

According to the agent terms we would need to register first before making a new booking so pretty hard to qualify for the double points if there is no registration link on the site. :rolleyes:

Also misleading. The qantas website, the public access point to this offer just says double points. Along with example fares for Paris and Rome. However, neither destination is eligible for double points according to the agent conditions. Not even eligible for qf1 to Dubai.

Not to mention a complete lack of registration link or notification of a need to register.

Would this be misleading or deceptive business conduct?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Also is it double points including any applicable 'Status bonus'? or just double base points?

I'm hoping they get this double points thing sorted out by next week. Our return dates aren't open yet (Sept 18) but this is the sale we've been waiting for!

Just received email from the P1 team

Qantas.com has now been updated to provide a link to register for the double points and the terms and conditions.

I believe an email is also planned however due to the technical issues there has been a delay.

I hope this link provides you with the information you require

And the answer is no to any bonus points based on status level, it does not clarify if points are earned based on cabin class so it seems it could be just on base points as applicable to a Bronze Member in the cheapest Y seat. If that is the case then its not that inviting

Bonus Qantas Points are based on the Base Rate which applies, or the Minimum Points Guarantee if applicable and for the purposes of this promotion, does not include any Status Bonus that may apply for tier members

Bonus points would apply to cabin class based points earn.

There is a note in the landing page indicating that higher fare classes earn more bonus points.

Frequent Flyer - Member Specials - December Qantas Points offer

The minimum points guarantee is covered.

I don't think there's a abin bonus any more - Just different base rates depending on fare class and route.

Would still like to know if QF1/2/9/10 MEL/SYD/DXB are eligible. Based on the fine print, it seems not as you have to go to the UK.

If your travel terminates in DXB (and not LHR) it is not eligible for the double points - DXB is not an eligible city for the promotion. The registration page makes it quite clear:

The Early Bird Sale is available from all Qantas departure points in Australia. Bonus points can be earned on the flights listed below between Australia and the following cities, if booked by 13 October 2014:

  • London (Heathrow) - QF1, QF2, QF9, QF10;
  • Johannesburg - QF63, QF64;
  • Honolulu - QF3, QF4;
  • Los Angeles - QF11, QF12, QF15, QF16, QF17, QF18, QF93, QF94, QF95, QF96, QF107, QF108;
  • New York - QF15, QF16, QF107, QF108;
  • Dallas - QF7, QF8; or
  • Santiago - QF27, QF28, QF321, QF322.
Note: As part of the Early Bird Sale, any domestic flights connecting to the above international flight numbers, which depart from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, are not included in the bonus points offer.

That's the issue I have. The early bird sale to 4 continents with double points, with a number of European cities included in the sale, eg Paris, Rome, Barcelona. Does not actually provide double points if you fly using qantas partners to those cities. Not even double points just for the QF metal flight to dxb.

Keep in mind that when I open up the qantas website it shows me Earlybird sale. 4 continents. Double points. And then lists ADL-Paris and ADL-Rome. I bet if I search either of those routes it will show me ADL-DXB-destination. Meaning no double points.
