Currently I have Gold Velocity status, this runs out in July 2019 which is a shame because we have a trip to the USA booked for September with Virgin.
We currently have family pooling set up (My Husband and eldest Daughter are pooling to me, youngest Daughter is under 2 so no need yet) and we took advantage of the "double points" offer Virgin had in December last year, so we will get double points for the upcoming trip.
I could possibly get an extension to my Gold status as I had my baby in November 2018 so could get the pregnancy pause, BUT it says in the T&C's that you can only do it once every 2 years. And I did get the Pause less than 2 years ago for our older Daughter, so not sure if it would be approved or not.

Basically I'm asking will I get Gold status again if I drop to Silver for this trip? I'm thinking not, I don't think I'll get enough SC to make it back up to gold again. I've been able to maintain Gold for about 4 years now but I can see it slipping away due to having the children and not being able to travel as much as we used to.
Also, what benefits am I missing out on? The ones I know of are that I now will have to wait in line like a commoner, no lounge access (although I do get two lounge passes with my CC but I don't think we can take the two kids using those?) and no extra luggage. Am I missing anything else?

Really hoping they allow my pregnancy pause to go thru.

Your trip in sep to the states should requalify you for gold. If im following correctly you have status pooling from 2 others plus double SCs. Even if your flights are discount economy thats still 480 SCs just for the 3 return international flights alone. Or am i missing something?

Of course it would be nice to have the status for the holiday itself but you have 2 lounge passes as velocity silver plus u can always just pay extra for a lounge pass.

If you are in the US, consider taking a side-trip on Delta in Comfort+. Lots of status credits to be earned there for relatively small cost.

Thankyou, we did book two delta flights while we are in the USA and they have my details - listed as Gold at the moment for them but that will change I assume once I drop to silver.
So If I have two lounge passes with silver, then I can use my other two passes I get with my Virgin Money CC for the kids.
Yes I think we will go back up to Gold with the trip but wasn't 100% sure, even though I've had the status for a while now I'm still not "up with all the tricks and knowledge" of you guys.
I'm not sure if it was double status as well as double points - I know for sure it was double points but I'm unsure about the status.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm not aware of any VA DSC promos
Yes, I am pretty sure it was only Double Points not SC.

Another question. Because we are flying from Sydney to LA, we will be using the Etihad Lounge. Can the Velocity Lounge passes be used here? Or only at Virgin Lounges?

If you do end up falling from gold back to silver, don't forget you'll pick up 2 lounge passes that way (in addition to the credit card ones you mentioned).

Unless this has changed very recently, the answer is unfortunately not. Even though they're VA co-branded lounges, the lounge passes can only be used at domestic VA lounges.

If you drop to silver and need to go back to gold its not just status credits you need. You also need (4 i think) eligible flights

Im sure this has been discussed before but upon dropping down a level do any status credits and eligibile sectors (from within last 12 months) reset to zero or do they roll over for requalification?

It is an annual rolling total so yes they do roll over. The SC bar lifts however from the requal to attain level.
