I'm flying BNE-LHR next week on Royal Brunei in J. On the upside, there are (apparently) gold lavatories. On the down-side, it's a dry airline.

Apparently they don't mind if you bring your own on board, and I enjoy a bourbon or two before turning in. Can anyone advise on the logistics of taking a couple of 50 ml miniatures in my hand baggage, assuming I follow the international rules on liquids in hand baggage?

You can buy 200ml bottles at the duty-free shop air-side at BNE for A$6.99. Then you can do the same again in SIN. Its generally cheaper to buy that way rather than the little 50ml minis. They have quite a few spirits available in the 200ml bottles, and in some cases its cheaper to buy that way than in larger bottles. For example, 5 x 200ml JW Black will cost you $34.95, while a 1l JW Black costs $49.99. Go figure.

I think the Bourbon they have in the 20ml bottles is Jack Daniels.

F1RST / Syd Duty Free implemented a 1 per person limit a while ago to stop people buying lots of them! I also think they were only $4.99 a little while ago - amazing how they go up in price.

yes, I noted they were $5.99 just a month or so ago, but have been $6.99 the last few times I have been through (BNE, CNS, SYD). I have not seen a purchase limit.

If you buy 2 x 1l bottle in-bound they sometimes remind you that your allowance is 2.25l so you can add a 200ml bottle.

I have purchased multiple, taking a few different whiskeys, Baileys etc for in-room hotel consumption at my destination. I think I have carried 4 x 200ml bottle on board in my carry-on. A good way to get some variety at a much cheaper price than buying at the destination (hotel mini-bar etc).

This may get off topic but I bought 10 x 200ml in Darwin on my way to Mumbai in 2007.
