I've just had a win.......I think!

I had to change a JQ flight CNS-OOL and noticed a Dreamliner is flying on the day in question, so I've paid $100 extra to grab a business seat. I haven't felt excited about an upcoming flight for a long time, but strangely enough I am just now. I've never experienced a Dreamliner before and I've never experienced JQ business so I guess I get to do both.

I've selected 1C. Is that OK or is there a better choice?

That would be my choice of seat. Don't mean to sink your boat, but being domestic, it won't be business class service, just the seat. Better than a Y seat though!

It's a domestic leg of an international flight. It states I get a meal and entertainment included. Perhaps the meal is the muffin?? ;)
It's also called business on the booking and includes business points and SC's.

It definitely beats Y but meal could be a pie,can of coke & a Cornetto for dessert. Anyway for $100 is a no brainer. Enjoy ythe Dreamliner and report back.

Enjoy the flight. Never had a problem with JQ Business class - as long as you are realistic about what the product is. The crews can be a bit variable - but often cheerful and helpful.

I always get excited about every flight I go on and that would be (I honestly don't want to count) over the past 40 years and even more so when it's a new product, plane or airline. Don't ever lose that joy I say or flying will just become a drag. And JQ J will be soooo much better than Y, the food will be nothing exciting, but you don't fly Jetstar for the cuisine. I don't like the bulkhead row and choose row 2 on the right inner aisle, but that's just me. Have fun!

Well said.

I recently flew my first long haul on a 789..... and it was in Biz on NH to boot. Great experience.

Now I need to find a way to fly the A350.....

That's good feedback. Thanks. I have never seen it so I didn't know, but on VA (738's) J, I'll always choose row 2 over row 1. Would the JQ J be a similar type of seat/pitch?

Now just hope they don't do a swap and put you back to flying the 320s.
Don't forget to bring along photo id as you will get the orange D sticker.
Its flight designator is JQxx, isn't it?
Edit: you will not be able to do OLCI as they need to print out a proper BP, which they stick the D sticker on, so no chance of keeping it for yourself.
You surrender the D stickered BP when you arrive, it takes the place of the IPC.
I have done it twice with JQ, 2 one ways SYD - MEL and a return with QF81 when it still flew SIN - ADL - SYD.

I guess a sub can always happen and it's a more likely proposition on this one as I have a suspicion it's only a positioning flight. The flight number is JQ016 and by the look of it, JQ16 (if that's the same flight number) is KIX-CNS so the extra leg through to OOL is out of the usual and it's additional to the other two regular flights on that day, not a replacement of one of them. I've searched all my known flight dates for a year in advance and that's the only one I can see, but if it does get subbed, I'll be wanting my 100 bucks back! ;)

Thanks for the tip of the photo ID. That could trap young players! As I'll have arrived into CNS on an int, I'll have my passport and I never do OLCI as I'm never sure I'll get out of HGU on time as weather is a constant threat up there and I don't keep BPs in any case......they go straight to the bin as soon as points/SCs post!

JQ J on the 787 for a short flight would be, IMHO, very special compared to the usual 737's. The widebody cabin makes the roominess factor really enjoy the experience, even if the seats are not up to an international J standard.

Enjoy! :)

1C is a good pick for a short domestic flight. The usual caveats associated with being a bulkhead (i.e. unable to stretch out legs under the seat in front, have to stow IFE for takeoff/landing etc.) apply, but I don't think that will matter in your case.

Enjoy :)

Points and SC's are only earnt with business Max bundle! If the upgrade is just a business ticket, I'm afraid no points or SC's will be earned.

In terms of catering on a domestic leg on a JQi plane, IME the meal will be a choice of snack in a basket the FA comes around with along with a non-alcoholic drink. I'm happy to proven wrong though. :)

Geeze you lot.......you're very keen to rip away all my benefits here! No food, no points, no SCs ........do you think they'll let me hang on to a rope off the tail if ask nicely enough?

FWIW, I was changing a starter max flight to a different day and when the flight choice came up, this one was there. I clicked on the business check-box and it popped up that I owed another $100, which I grabbed. Whether that classes as an upgrade or what I have no idea but the PNR is still the same.

Now, do I get a seat or a rope off the tail? ;)

I have related the story on here before.
I got into MEL from AKL at 7.15pm on Christmas Sun, 27/12/15. EK J, you beaut!
Tried to do OLCI on my device, with the JQ website, no luck. The bleeding airline knew the day before they would cancel that flight of mine.
Wanted to see T4 past security.
Tried many times, check in at airport the blurb said.
I just didn't know, ... how unlucky I would be.
Went back to MEL airport on Mon, 28/12/15, tried to check in at the DIY booths.
No luck.
Girl said to come back 3 hours before flight.
So I went from T4 to T1 QP.
Then got an SMS that my JQ flight got cancelled.
Lucky I had the $ to pay for a replacement QF seat.
You (Swanning_it) might get that coverted seat, or a rope hanging from the tail with you in a reflective jacket, OR you might find yourself back on a Airbus320.
Knowing how bad JQ are with cancellations, and not only with my flight, but seeing so many CANCELLED on the ADL airport website, I know where I am hedging my bets.
Best of luck though.

Looking at your screen shot you have provided , it certainly does appear to me that you have paid for a Business Max bundle, and therefore you should earn the J points and SC"s. :)

If you had purchased just a business upgrade (without Max bundle) the flight would say simply " business" .

TIP: Keep all your Screenshots of the receipts and payments made plus the boarding pass, as i have had the occasional issue with JQ when it comes to awarding the correct Points and SC'S posting to my QFF account.

I've not flown Jetstar ever so I would not feel excited. A slightly better seat on a LCC is no substitute for the real thing.

Matt

Good to see such excitement from a veteran frequent flyer. I have now done business class on the 787 with TG and RJ and I wasn't too impressed. RJ felt like they squeezed 6 seats across in business.

Yes, I'll report how it goes. I clicked on the meal tab and this bit displayed......
