A question for the old hands. I know on an award stay I'll get points for incidentals (at least I think I will unless I am confusing the detail with PC), but what about double dipping miles? In my case they go to AA.

If I have some incidental spend on the stay, will I get 500 or 0 AA miles if I go for fixed miles? If I nominate variable miles will I get the miles earned or 0 miles? Thanks.

I would like to know the answer to this as well, but for my last points+cash stay at Hilton Queenstown I did not receive the 500 airline miles for virgin atlantic. So looks like award stays don't quality for the airline miles double dip. But I'm sure someone else here can confirm. I assume points+cash is an award stay.

Miles do not post on reward stays (¹variable miles did once upon a time but that may have been fixed so cannot be counted upon) - HHonors points do, so "points and points" is the go for these.

¹ Neither VA or QF will credit with "Points and Variable miles".

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks serfty. Is the VA and QF bit only for award stays or it also applies to non award stays?

Refer to the thread title - note that if any one night of a stay is paid for with a reward instrument (points, Certificate) then the entire stay is treated as an award.

(FWIW, I have earned 10K Velocity points with 5 paid stays in the last 6 weeks.)
