Hi all, im playing around with the Oneworld planner and i was wondering...

Im looking at doing AKL-HBA-SIN-FCO-CDG-LHR-JFK-DEN-LAX-AKL. I'm assuming that would get me platinum but in whY, what would it get me?

I am thinking that if we start the first leg of this on the way home from my coming-of-age-PS DJ flight and then stay home till we get to go to Colorado. But then that is on the proviso i can come up with the Gorrillas before November, which if the weather continues the way it is will be a big no!

Whack it through "Mileage Monkey", that will give you a guide to the validity/SC's.

That would be AKL-MEL/SYD-HBA--MEL/SYD-SIN ... to start.

The to get to Rome, you need to go from SIN via HEL, LHR etc.

Of course, there's no oneworld flight FCO-CDG, so either go back via LHR/HEL or take a "land segment'.

In fact there's a few problems. I assume that itinerary represents where you wish to go.

You can also test your routing on the oneworld booking tool:

First you need an itinerary that oneworld actually flies - maybe something like this.
AKL-MEL-HBA-SYD-SIN-LHR-FCO-MAD-ORY,CDG-LHR-JFK-DFW-DEN-LAX-AKL

In Y (and noting L Class only gets discount economy SCs) that only gets you 285 SCs, not even enough for Silver.

In J (and using First Class for US legs) gets you 1240 SCs (ie over 4x), enough to retain Platinum but not to qualify (1400 SCs)

Correct, that's where we want to go and want to stop.

Oops... Made a mistake - its actually AKL-HBA-LHR-CDG-FCO-JFK-DEN-LAX-AKL. Now the interesting thing is that i put it into MM and it says it's invalid (3 errors - No oneworld (AKL-HBA) (HBA-LHR) CDG-FCO)) even though QF will allow me to all but book it?

It says, if ticketed, its 210 in whY, 840 in J and 1260 in F. Does that sound right??

EDITED BELOW TO ANSWER MY OWN QUESTION...

Yup, that was what i had. And you're correct, mind you 160 SC's wouldn't be that hard to net if i had to to get it. We would get access to any QP on the trip as we would be in J anyway wouldnt we?

An xONEx is 'segment' based, so AKL-HBA is not valid since there's not direct oneworld flight between those towns.

Also, such booking are limited to 16 such segments, so it is always better plan by route.

I think someone here did come up with a LONE4 (economy) itinerary which would get you to Gold.

Note that this could be helped along by paying the QF and (BA?) supplement on the LONE4 fare to put you into premium thereby earning higher status credits.

Really? 700 SCs from a LONE4? I've built one that can get 460 or so (flying around 98k km), but 700!? It wasn't a LONE5 was it?

No, it was a LONE4 with PE/WT+ paid upgrades.

e.g.

For 470 SC's:

SYD-JFK-LAX-DFW-ANC-DFW-LAX-LHR-MCT-LHR-NRT-CGK-NRT-DEL-HKG-MEL-CNS

Upgrading the following segments to Y+ earns another 250 SC's:

SYD-JFK-LAX-DFW-ANC-DFW-LAX-LHR-MCT-LHR-NRT-CGK-NRT-DEL-HKG-MEL-CNS

Of course, this adds at least AUD6625 to the AUD3330 base fare, making the AUD10080 DONE4 a far better option (A DONE4 with the above routing could earn 2060 SC's).

With the exception that I have a wife who doesn't like to fly to go somewhere nice let alone getting in the air to get WP! Having said that If i got at least 1000ish i could get the others without too much trouble.
