I have tried to find the answer to this question, but could not find it, so would appreciate it if a forumite may be able to answer it for me. Thanks.

I have booked a domestic flight, but could not select the seats. I think this is only available for QFF with higher status than Bronze. I am only a Bronze (NB!) If so, when can I select the seat? - 24 hours before flight when check in online? By that time all reasonable seats will be gone! :(

I believe Advance Seat Selection is only available to QFF members Silver and above, unless you are a in the same booking as that of a member who is eligible for Advance Seat Selection.

So unless you're travelling with someone who has status, you might be out of luck.

The seats you can select from - both using Advance Seat Selection and from OLCI - are all controlled anyway, i.e. the best seats are reserved for higher status members. Best thing you can do is use OLCI as close as possible to T-24 hours.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Another trick after you OLCI, is continue to re-check as seat become available as people move around.

anat0l is correct:

2. Who is eligible for Domestic Advance Seat Selection?
Frequent Flyers who are eligible to use Domestic Advance Seat Selection include Chairmans Lounge members, Platinum, Gold and Silver Frequent Flyers and equivalent oneworld Frequent Flyers. Bronze Frequent Flyers or non Frequent Flyers travelling on the same booking as an eligible Frequent Flyer will be able to request their seat with the eligible Frequent Flyer.

Bronze Frequent Flyers or non Frequent Flyers travelling on the same booking as an eligible Frequent Flyer will be able to request their seat with the eligible Frequent Flyer.

Also Bronze f/flyers on a separate booking but linked with pax who are Silver f/flyers & above will get access to the same seating as the higher status pax. Note bookings must actually be linked in Altea not just cross referenced in reservations for this to happen.

Believe it or not but you still may get better seating as a Bronze as opposed to a pax who is a non-member eg best seats showing available for a couple (both bronze) on a 767 flight were 52JK but their f/flyer numbers were not in the pnr.

Once the f/flyer bronze numbers were entered a lot more seats became available to them & they were able to move forward to 38JK.

Cheers

Oz

Didn't work too well for my parents today. Checkin at T-24 (seq 5/6) and got row 52 on a 763. Continued to check hourly/half hourly (when awake) and no two seats together came up forward of row 52, with only 1-2 single seats in row 49 showing.

It is obviously full of status pax. Fortunately they don't really mind being down the back (no idea why considering how often they're in J long haul).

heh. They were allocated these exact two seats, with FF number in. I'm guessing, as mentioned above, it's just full of status pax :)
