Hi all,

Looking at booking a few domestic award flights with AA through QFF for this December. I just noticed that most of the domestic flights have 0 baggage allowance - does anyone know if this actually applies in practice, or if its possible to add baggage? I did see something on the AA terms and conditions regarding saver fares but wasn't sure how this applied to redemptions through Oneworld partners. Seems a bit odd considering its the only economy fair offered via points redemption. Thought I might ask well ask on here before I made the lengthy phone call to QFF customer service!

Thanks in advance and sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum - please move it if thats the case!

Do you have any oneworld status (any oneworld carrier, not necessarily QF)?

If so, then you are entitled to 2 x 23kg if you put that frequent flyer number in.

Unfortunately not, lowly bronze! So I take it that means no baggage allowance and the only way to get additional baggage is to pay at check in?

AA doesn't let you pre-purchase bags online as such there are no discounts. Prices are $25 for the first bag, $35 for the second.

Is this AA flight connecting to an international flight on say QF? If so, which flight?

Unfortunately they're not part of an international flight, they're separate flights from Boston-Montreal and Chicago-DC. Thanks everyone for your help!

We flew forward on AA QFF Y redemption last year. I tried over the phone with AA to change the flight time, but they couldn't alter the booking. At checkin, the lovely, efficient seasoned agent put us on the earlier flight. We had three suitcases between the two of us, and were not charged for any. Also scored the exit row to boot! Both of us are QF NB. I have no idea as to whether this is the norm. I suspect that we were just lucky.

Sometimes using QF points for domestic AA award flighs are piir value if the sectors you're flying on are relatively cheap to purchase.

BOS is a Jet Blue hub so B6 have some good fares & they may even include one piece of checked luggage - but double check on that.

It would depend how many QF points it will cost you as to whether it's better to pay for a fare.

Note that if you do pay for an AA fare, not all their fare classes will earn points on QF so check the QF partner earning table & likewise check the AA booking class before you pay. You can also do the 24 hour hold option before you have to pay for your ticket.
