Hi Everyone,

Just after some advise for Domestic Lounges,

First time flying Qantas domestic. Was wondering if Qantas Club is the only lounge available for Melb/Cairns/SYD and the whereabouts of the lounges

My first flight from Melb - Cairns is however onboard Jetstar at 2:20, will the lounge still be open? I have a skywards gold

Departing Melbourne JQ692 @ 2:20AM to Carins

Departing Cairns QF927 4:15 Pm Arr SYD 8:15PM

Departing Syd QF497 10:05 PM

Thank you in advanced all

Depends when you're flying. But short answer only QPs will be available.

I'm not sure if Skywards Gold will help you with access.

Your first flight will have no access available as you need to be on a QF or EK flight number, regardless the MEL lounge closes at the time of the last QF departure which is well before that OMG JQ flight.

Thank you Medhed & Markis

had a further read of the FAQ
Eligibility and Access to The Qantas Club Lounges | Qantas

"New! Qantas Club Members and Eligible Skywards members as well as customers in First and Business cabins will have access to Emirates and Qantas Lounges."

from the below is it confirmed that JQ flights aren't valid ? seem ambiguous want quite sure. was looking at actually waiting in QP for an hour when arr Cairns at 4:40am if hotel is not ready for check-in

Thanks anyway guys :)

[h=2]Access for Jetstar passengers[/h]Qantas Club members travelling with Jetstar[SUP]+[/SUP] are welcome in any Qantas Club lounge. Simply show your boarding pass and Qantas Club card, or Platinum or Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer card, at the lounge reception. You may also invite one guest who need not be travelling. Lounge check-in is available in most Qantas Clubs for flights departing from domestic terminals. If you are travelling without luggage you can check in for your Jetstar* flight in most Qantas Club lounges. When you fly Jetstar,[SUP]+[/SUP] you won't be able to access partner, associated[SUP]#[/SUP] oroneworld airline lounges.
Other Qantas Club privileges do not apply when travelling on Jetstar.*
Note: Lounge check-in for Jetstar is 40 minutes before departure. If you arrive within 40 minutes of scheduled departure, go directly to the Jetstar check-in counter. You need to check-in for Jetstar flights at least 30 minutes before scheduled departure otherwise your ticket will be forfeited. No refund or free transfer is available. You will be required to book and pay for a new ticket if you wish to travel.

CNS QP opens at 4:45am most mornings (45 minutes before departure of QF799 to BNE). If you were QF WP, you may have arrivals access, though I'm not sure if this applies for JQ flights, and I don't know about Skywards Gold at all. The CNS Lounge dragons are pretty strict: they even seem very reluctant/questioning/unwelcoming for arrivals access as a P1! It feels almost like I'm inconveniencing them personally.

If you are looking for something to do to fill time otherwise, there's a breakfast cafe along Sheridan st, south of Shield st intersection which is apparently pretty popular early in the morning - they seem to be opening before 5am when I'm driving to the airport to catch QF799. I get the impression a lot of the taxi drivers know it well (can't tell whether that's a good recommendation however).

if you are arriving Friday or Saturday morning, then you'll also find Rusty markets up and running pretty early too (not sure exact time). It's across the road from the breakfast place.

EK members only get access when on QF or EK flight numbers, and no arrivals access.

Thanks Markis10 appreciate the clarification.

Kevrosmith your recommendation sounds good. will definitely do the market and breakfast then :)

If it's just cafe recommendations you're after, there are plenty others better than the first one I suggested, I'm just not sure their opening times. Some I'd suggest:

Along Grafton Street, between Shield and Spence Sts there plenty of cafes across the road from the back of Rusty's market/Gilligans, including Lily Pad, Caffiend (down the alley) and a few more in a small block of shops along there. Re:hab is on Lake Street, down from the Spence st intersection, or if you're after water views, there's a few along the Pier or Harbour Lights overlooking the marina/inlet, including Salt House. And then there's always the Esplanade: a few options along there.

If you google these names, I'm sure you could find phone numbers, ring and check their opening times on the day you arrive.
