From the velocity website;
You can use Velocity Points to request an upgrade for an upcoming Virgin Australia flight. Upgrades can be requested for domestic and international short haul flights, plus Gold and Platinum members can request an upgrade for an international long haul flight to Los Angeles or Abu Dhabi.

Yes, I have been successful in a PE Saver ticket upgraded to J to LAX from BNE in Oct for 45,000 points each way. Happy Dayzzzz

Did you try to do it on the web site, or did you have to use the call centre?

Yes, I've booked SYD-LAX Flexi to J upgrades @ 45,000 points per passenger. Looking forward to it.

I dummy booked a Reward flight to know there was in fact reward seats available on the flight I wanted. Then called Velocity to confirm it was actually available. My travel agent booked the ticket and as soon as it was booked and ticketed I contacted Velocity and it was then done. I am looking forward to it. 5A in my seat but it looks to be a full cabin so I have someone next to me
