Having read about it in the Best Round-The-World Deal booklet, I have tried to get Qantas Reservation to work with me on booking such a trip but they can't find it anywhere.

Cheers, Joseph

Hi Joseph & welcome to AFF.

Yes, these definitely do still exist :) I believe the official name is "Oneworld Classic Flight Reward", as referenced on the Qantas website here: https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/flying/using-points-awards-upgrades#oneworld

There's also a mega-thread on the subject here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ogram/oneworld-award-140k-280k-420k-8228.html

Matt, that is nice to help Joseph out, but that referred thread is now 4000 posts long..... I think it is time a Version 2 was started :)

Welcome to AFF tandlj. I was wondering exactly the same thing the other day and posted to the mega-thread mattg highlighted. (I don't think the link to the Qantas site mattg gave is what you are after).

It appears it is best to call up and book the RTW classic award, but best to be armed with as much forward knowledge as possible through your own research on availability. I was informed that to do it on line you do a 'multi city' booking, nominating points, but was also told by Qantas that its pretty hopeless (doesn't show all availability) and that I should call.

Agree!

And why shouldn't Joseph enjoy the experience just like the rest of us have had to :)

If you want it bad enough you have to put the effort in - more than worth it in the end though

Well, one of the reasons is that the thread started 10 years ago, and much of the info is out-of-date. I'm all for 'putting the effort in' but some threads just become unwieldy, especially if you are wanting something specific and want to search the thread.

The link I provided to the Qantas website does refer to the oneworld award. Check the prices for zone 10. ;) The reason I provided the link is that the OP said Qantas Reservations were not aware of the award. This provides a point of reference on QF's own website. FWIW, this would need to be booked through the Frequent Flyer Service Centre, not Reservations.

I agree that the other thread is long - my intention wasn't to make the OP read 4000 posts, but I thought the first few posts in that thread would provide some useful information.

If the OP has any specific questions I am more than happy to answer them here (as I'm sure others will be). :)

And I was only having a bit of a lend. The last 20 or 30 pages is probably more than enough

Mattg, maybe you could help start a RTW thread Part Two? There are clearly some members with great knowledge on this and a bit of a summary to help novices like myself "get started" would be fantastic.

Yes, I did it recently but I had to insist the person check with a manager. They did and 1 hour and 48 minutes later (my phone told me) I had 2 of these fares booked. I had to be flexible and know my stuff (eg routes and carriers etc) to get what we needed.

Work back lack from your non negotiable and you'll be fine.

NB - it doesn't have to be circular, just consistently moving and not back tracking through a port you've used.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
