...not mine, domestically or internationally. On the most recent trip from the US, one of four checked bags didn't make it until two days later.

Working in the industry the bags are sorted as per the tag on the item, at times the tag can be dislodged or similar. Sometimes the outbound ground handler may not really have the understanding of the policy and may just shove it where ever they feel like it.

I know for my company we definitely try our very best to separate and distinguish priority bagggage and offload accordingly but it is hard when they are just chucked in a heap to put it simple...

SQ J trip out last month and back this month - the priority tags worked a treat. Never been so fast out of Sydney airport! Not entirely convinced this works on QF...

My last trip home, Priority tagged bags in first lot on carousal in LAX on the way back the third bag out in SYD with QF, so yes the tags do work at least for this trip. It was my first trip as SG and therefore the only experience thus far.

Luggage was tagged priority SYD-DXB earlier this month. Was on the carousel when I got there, and looked like it was in about the first 15-20 bags. Was travelling J.

My experiences with CX J have always been satisfactory, even after transiting through HKG. While they may not be the very first out, it's rarely more than a minute or two until I start to see my bags.

On my last 3 trips my buddy and I probably had our (4) bags come out in the first 10 about 90% of the time.... twice our bags were 4 of the first 5 out... which was impressive... This was flying in J on various *A airlines....

We were WELL impressed!

On OW carriers they work well in Asia and the US but not in Australia.

With honourable exception of LAX (mostly; they have a separate carousel), the emphatic answer, from long experience, domestic and international for Qantas, is NO, NO, NO!

What kind of priority tags to they put on your bags? I think having a brightly coloured tag is more effective than having the barcodes on the thermal tags encoded with 'Priority' as that works for the port that scans the tags however won't work in an overseas country that is used to going by the traditional coloured priority tags.

What do other OW carries do for their priority tags eg JAL & CX?

I mean even on QF arriving at BKK or NRT we have had bags out first.Very rarely a fail on CX and JAL.AA also does well usually.

On recent QF1/2 in J, the priority tags worked very well until the final leg. 1 bag came out almost last of all bags... Brunel were ringing to ask if I still needed the chauffeur drive, I was so late out!

Yellow tag consistently doesn't seem to work in MEL...for me at least...

IME priority doesn't always work. I have too many random cases (pardon the pun) on various airlines failing to arrive on the carousel priority. Not overly concerned unless in a hurry.
Agreed.. The bright tags function better.

ozbeachbabe. These were the big, BRIGHT orange tags that most *A airlines seem to use... I tend to agree with you - the visible ones seem to work better!
