Diners Club Is there any reason to keep this card?

Does a Diners Club card have any useful purpose?

Well yes it does. It'll get you into business class lounges for free all around the world (with the exception of Australasia, USA and quite a few other places).

So if you travel frequently to Europe or the Middle East or elsewhere, the chances are you can use your Diners card for free access.

Otherwise, it is completely useless (or even worse).

I'll be ditching mine shortly.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It would if they were efficient and/or organised.Still the best theoretically for transferring to SPG then in my case on to AA.Unfortunately in the vernacular since their computer upgrade they couldn't run a chook raffle.
Still mine is fee free so i keep it as it is costing them to maintain the account whilst I maintain the rage.:D

The diners business card earns rewards at minimum of 1 point per dollar program uncapped & allows you to redeem to your choice of QF or other awards. There are a few supplier arrangements that offer good bonus points with your choice of redemption. So if you're running a business then diners can be lucrative. In my field one wholesaler gives businesses g 4X points on diners - so a 250k spend on diners = 1 million points, for a pretty small card fee.
For most of us though its very hard to see the point. I've been told by diners that they are about to relaunch into the Oz market, it will be interesting to see how that goes.

Diners was my card of choice in the late 90s with its Ansett points - had saved enough points for 1.5 return flights to Europe, saving for 2, when Ansett nosedived, bellyflopped and went bust and lost ALL the points with no reasonable recourse to try and reclaim them. Never used Diners again but kept the card for another 8 years (with no annual fee) and no use of the card until they informed me that they had cancelled the card due to inactivity, not even any warning beforehand. Thanks Diners for nothing, even though I was costing them money for the last 8 years.

Mine got closed due to inactivity as well. It's a shame they didn't remove the ongoing entry from my credit file......

I joined my son up to Dinners as he was going os for the big trip? So far he has taken advantage of the lounge access and is enjoying what is on offer
My question is do i continue this card next year

Travelling J class Uio-Mia last week; also Ow Emerald....no lounge access at Quito airport:evil:. ....but on producing Diners card, welcomed in with big smile:shock:. FWIW, Diners seem to be expanding their lounge network:!:

Diner's Club International: Airport Lounges

....since my Diners is fee free, I keep it open by having one monthly direct debit payment from it.
