I seem to remember Delta used to have something similar to the AA YUPP fares.

Thinking to do a SC run next year if I can get the schedule to work with Delta.

Just can't seem to find any info on how to do it. The AA website makes it fairly easy but been fiddling with the delta site and not had any luck so far.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

In June this year I travelled LAX to the East coast.

I used ITA to search for business/first fares on DL from LAX to "any airport within 800 miles" of my intended destination (NYC).

From the results I worked out the cheapest option. e.g. Cheapest one-way LAX to NYC I found was First LAX to MCO for US$510 and then economy MCO-LGA for US$95. (First LAX-NYC was in the order of US$1250)

Note that the sweet spot for status/$ for East coast destinations seemed to be two segments - have three and the cost sky rocketed.

For Velocity SC's, LAX-xMSP-MCO was about the best connection as this gave (80+60=)140SC's.[ LAX-xATL-MCO gave (80+40=)120 SC's.]

Serfy

thanks for that.

I was doing some dummy bookings for LAX - SJU - NYC - HNL with AA and was getting around 650 Scs for ~ $1550 and I think tax would be on top of that. I was able to have time in SJU and NYC (stopover) for the price and it works into the kind of holiday I'd like so dun mind some extra travel time when I'm maximising my chances to hit gold :)

I just can't seem to get similar pricing with Delta. I think I'm booking the "wrong" way to get the discounted upgrade fares.

As far as other Destinations are concerned, 3 segment LAX one-way to some Caribbean destinations can be had for under US$600 and earn 200+ SC's.

e.g. Doing a LAX to SJU (and any port within 500 miles) shows up LAX-MSP-JFK-SDQ for US$547 (the costs are tax inclusive), earning 220 SC's.

(STI is US$522, but earns 20 less SC's as JFK-STI is under 1500 miles.)

FWIW, SJU (with the benefit of no immigration) is around US$900.

You won't get similar pricing with DL - but there are some cheaper first/business fares around.

Serfty is on the money. Best I could extract from matrix ITA was LAS-ATL-LGA-NAS yielding 220 status credits with VFF for $381 USD. There are a few more with similar metrics to the Caribbean and Central America that I've also posted in the AFF 'other parter' status runs spreadsheet.
