So I have the option of flying on the A321 or the 757-200 on Delta 'first' class from LAX to MSP.
The A321 flight is better timing wise, but was wondering if anyone had flown on either or (better) both these birds at the pointy end?
Which is better?

I will also be interested in the replies, I had the same option between MCO-LAX in November

The 757 has a lot more First seats. Boarding is often via door 2L so quieter.

Other than that much of muchness.

You do get 80 VA SC's for the route. ;)

There are so many versions of their "first", is this the old bucket style seats?

If the bucket seats, they are OK, a LOT better than the Y seats so thats always a win. Comfy and roomy enough, a bit of recline, headphones and eye mask on and Ive managed a snooze on them before.

I suggest not book 1D or 1F as I found the emergency equipment is usually overhead so you have to put your bag elsewhere. The FAs are pretty attentive, 3hr flight you should get a light meal (eg wrap) and offers from the snack basket (Biscoff, yeah!).

Prepare for the Priority boarding struggle, take no prisoners. Do you have VA SG or WP status? If yes, you get lounge access. "First" doesnt given you lounge.

I'm back to pleb Red with Velocity so it looks like no lounge access for me.
Yep, it's the old bucket seats, not the lay flat.

There is Delta First - which is the usual run of the mill J style seats with no lounge access unless you have status with DL, Skyteam or VA

Not only are the planes different, the style of J seats differ across the fleet. The IFE config also differs. The A321 have better IFE than the older 757.

Note that IFE streaming to your electronic device via the inflight wifi is free - you don’t have to purchase wifi internet access.

Then there is Delta One which is much better - this lie flat suite product replaces “first” in the transcontinental and international flights using the twin aisle jets 767,777,330,350
MrsQS and MissQS flying DLOne in a few days DCA-LAX for $4.80 per SC. Not exactly transcontinental but as Washington is Pollie/lobbyist City, there is no way there would not be a DLOne from here

But again, there are a couple of versions of Delta One seats. We had a 757 for ATL-SCL overnight and I hated the foot wells.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Quite correct - type 75S in SeatGuru - the original DLOne and certainly not the current ones marketed in the a350.

They will be on the 75S

I ended up going with the more convenient flight on the 757.
Seat selection was limited to row 1 or a window seat in the other aisles. The rest were taken.

In fact if domestic, no lounge access unless you have status with VA or are a member of Delta Sky Club. Skyteam status and DL status (without Sky Club) only gains access to lounges on international flights (or connecting domestic flights).
