Delta can't change upgraded VA status on booking

Hi,

I've read that when people have changed status with Velocity they remove and add their Velocity number on their Delta booking to reflect upgraded status.
My husband has reached Velocity Gold but I can't change it with Delta. I've tried to delete his Velocity number on the Delta website and via the app and it says it cant' be changed once travel has started. We have 5 more Delta flights in the next 3 weeks and they're all on the one confirmation number.
I've called Delta and the woman I spoke to put me on hold a few times to get help from her "specialist" (supervisor?) and they decided it couldn't be done and we had to just deal with the fact that Delta consider him VA Sliver for the entire trip. I will move from Red to Platinum through the trip thanks for family pooling.
This would be fine except that I think we are going to need to use the Gold Medallion baggage allowance rather than pay extra for baggage. We can get lounge access with the VA app showing the updated membership card I presume.

Has anyone found a way around this?

I haven't called Velocity yet but they're my next port of call or chance it with another Delta employee on the phone. Or check at the airport on our next flight but considering how couldn't care less that my children were both was seated between strangers on our last flight I think this is the least of their worries.

This is often questioned on here, the easiest is to install the "Virgin Australia" app which will display your status. Or when you go up a status level you should receive an email which you can show at check-in/lounges and they will accept it.

Delta won't remove or update the FF number after the first flight has been flown. You should be able to get your Gold benefits by showing your card (even on the app). If Delta check the VA status on their machines they should see it, even if the BP doesn't update.

FWIW, I think the BP will update eventually it just isn't immediate. So it may sort itself out.

It did update somewhere in the background because when I went to check us all in on Monday we had changed from an allowance of one bag each to two bags each. It still says he is silver and I'm red which are both gold and silver respectively but we can show them the new membership cards on the VA app if we have any dramas but I think we're good. It's safe to go buy a new suitcase to fill with shopping.
