I was told by singapore airlines call centre and their Philippines office that I cannot delete my (Dec 2 - Feb 14 - PER - MNL - PER ticket) MNL - SIN return segment. I am not going to be in Manila to board the flight, I will be in singapore, and obviously I must get home to Australia.

Someone else has told me I can get them to reissue or revalidate the ticket and pay the change fee. Neither call centres suggested this. One said if they delete the segment it will delete the ticket, the other said its a fare condition. I can't see any fare conditions specifying segment deletion.

Is there something I can say to the call centre to make this happen?

It's in the Conditions of Contract. CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT

Deteting one sector changes the coupon sequence.

18. COUPON SEQUENCE
Unless prohibited by local legislation, flight coupons are valid only if used in sequence. We are entitled at our sole option to refuse carriage or recompute the fare if your flight coupons are not used in sequence.

You will probably be better off just cancelling the whole return or perhaps changing the dates of the return to a time where you might be able to use it.

Whihc section? Coupon sequence?

Yes. But the recomputed fare is likely to be very much higher! Basically 2 x one-ways. But you can ask for it and find out.

They may be able to price it as open jaw booking, into MNL out of SIN.

Have you already ditched a sector by not going to MNL or did you go then backtrack?

Might be hard when some sectors have already been used? These re-pricing exercises don't often end happily (for the pax) . But it's certainly worth a try

The other thought I had ... a long shot .... years ago I had a sector converted into a "surface sector" to keep rest of ticket live. Maybe using that terminology would help? It wasn't with SQ though.

Excellent news. I called up and had to pay for a sector change on another ticket, after paying I asked if he could help me with a ticket revalidation to remove a sector on another flight. I explained my situation and that I needed to board in Singapore with my wife and daughter and he intially said it wasnt possible. He then told me he'd check with another department and came back saying he will do that now, no charge but no refund, and email my new eticket.

Not sure what factors affected this compared with my previous calls.

Nice result! I guess they used their "sole option" and charged you nothing? :)
