Hi all

I have some Krisflyer points expiring in Dec 2014.

I wish to book a business award for June 2015 - however, I need flexibility in my dates.

Say I book the award for June 2015 now, and come Feb 2015 (after points have expired) what will happen if I:

1) change the dates only (keep destinations same) - can I extend dates for an additional say 10-12months to 2016? or will it not let me because my points have expired
- can I change the dates multiple times?

2) change the destination?

Thanks in advance

Aaron

prozerran TB100%H I have never been in this position so can't give you an accurate answer. I would assume you could change the date but not sure how far out or how often. As for redepositing expired pts no you are screwed there my friend - whenever I need to cancel a confirmed / ticketed rdpt booking KF staff will always say hold 1 minute and let me check if any of these pts are expired - and all 'live' pts will then be re-deposited.

But for your peace of mind definitely call KF in SIN to clarify - 02 9350 0203 will get you straight through.

I am yet to see any evidence to suggest there is a limit to the number of date changes. You can indeed fly in 2016 based on the following rule.

19. All award tickets are valid for twelve months from the date of the first flight as ticketed, unless otherwise specified.

A change of destination is ok as long as it is within the same zone. Not sure if it works if you change the destination to a higher zone. Note however that you cannot change your origin city. This will require a cancellation of the ticket and your expired miles won't be refunded.

Shhh!!! Dont open this pandora's box prozerran. Can be done, speaking from personal experience. Although, it was only a change in dates though and had to forfeit 15% on the miles as I had it done through the call centre. This was early last year.

Better ring them to get stock of the situation now.

Thank you all for the replies.

From what I've figured out.

Once the award ticket is booked, as long as I do not cancel ticket (or do an option is requires a ticket reissue) - changes are all good eg date changes.

I tried to call the Sydney call centre to confirm what they mean by the 12 month validity on the ticket. My initial understanding is that if I book today 22Oct2014 - then my award ticket lasts until 22Oct2015 - I can make changes without requiring a cancellation of ticket. OR does it mean 12months from the first flight say 2Feb2015 (up till 2Feb2016?)

The representative did not appear to be that confident, but what he kept on saying to me is that I can change the date of departure for as long as possible after the ticket has been issued-several times?

Can someone clear this up with me please? - with experience of this?
