Hi all

I've never flown Jetstar before but will need to get from Darwin to Singapore soon and Jetstar is the only airline flying this route.

I have the choice of flying on A321 or A320. I've read that the A321s are older and less comfortable than the 320s?

Any thoughts about this? Thanks!

It just depends on the times of the flights that are more convenient to you. I just had a quick look on the JQ website for dates DRW/SIN on Wed 21 Jul. The earlier flight JQ57 1600/1900 is the A321 but only has the regular super saver fares whereas if you take the later JQ61 1830/2130 which is an A320 they have a sale fare for AUD24.56 plus taxes AUD74.44 total AUD99.00 for outbound sector.

The return options Wed 28 Jul give you both flights JQ58 SIN/DRW 2025/0235+1 (A321) or JQ62 2220/0430+1 (A320) for the sale fare of AUD24.56 plus taxes AUD37.77 total AUD62.33 for inbound sector. Total return fare including taxes AUD161.33.

The above fare is for carry on luggage only so you would need to add AUD20.00 each way for 20 kilos of checked luggage.

There are two ten year old A321's in JQ's fleet so there would be no way of knowing in advance if you'll get one of the newer ones or a ten year old aircraft.

Personally I would go with the cheapest option then take what ever aircraft it happens to be. If both flights are the same fare I would then opt for the times that suited me better for either arriving in SIN or arriving back in DRW. If you got into DRW at 0235 you've got a better chance of getting to bed & therefore a reasonable sleep.

Not a bad option if you were wanting to get to Europe on the cheap in peak season (Northern summer). You could buy a separate ticket SIN/KUL then take Air Asia KUL/LON. Could be a bit of fiddling around & not everyone's cup of tea but you'd be saving hundreds of dollars.

I tend to see the old 321's in MEL/SYD/OOL. I dont think I have seen one of the oldies on the long trek to Singapore before, maintenance and fuel wise I am assuming.

VH-VWZ is one attractive beast
