CX cabin crew strike

Argh. Right in the middle of my last AUS-US USDM redemption with CX

usually the company plays chicken with the union to see if they can win the PR campaign and turn public sentiment against the FAs - typically it fails as the FAs are far better at garnering support and CX gives in to the demands after no more than a week of actual disruption

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

One of the complaints was the reduction of allowance on flights to MEL! I wonder why MEL was singled out and the rest of Australia wasn't. We need happy flight attendants or I got a feeling CX FA's won't be happy doing the MEL runs and it might show in the cabin. CX operates x3 daily too so that's quite a lot of unhappy FA's.

Allowances are based on the type of hotel and the price of food available from the hotel. So for example allowances would be based on an average price from the restaurant or the most expensive items from a cafe in the hotel.

CX negotiated with the hotel to give discounts to crew therefore the amount CX needs to provide is less.

Problem is - almost no crew ever buy at the hotel unless it's a late arrival in which case room service may be the only option and it can often cost
More than the allowance. Especially after service charges, taxes and so on.
