WHAT?
Just for asking if you could enter the CX HKG lounge, they upgraded you both, coo, if that is what happened, you must have the luck of the er, Irish?
OR were you upgraded at checkin?

As luck has it, we both were bumped up to J so CX Pier lounge visit is was.

Must be the time of year! My friends were both upgraded from PE to J on their recent flight HKG-UK. Both ways in fact! But as these were op-ups they came without lounge access. So lucky you were able to get into the lounge.

They told us on being upgraded from PE to J no lounge access, compared ticket to the recent J flight from JFK see no difference or remark on new one, so we went to the Pier and they let us in.

Yeah. I'm not sure how that works. If they had insisted on a lounge invite that might have undone things. I guess scanning the BP doesn't flag anything! Helpful to know as I will tell my HKG-based friends. They were told no lounge and just complied :)

CX checking in agent said same no lounge entry, I said lets go try, wife said did you not hear her,... and we tried and walla into the Pier like flint.

I was once denied EY J lounge access at AUH after getting an op up. I too had assumed the lounge staff wouldn’t realise I was op upped - but they did after scanning my bp! Maybe the EY system is set up to alert the lounge staff about this situation, and the CX system isn’t?
