Looking at a CX J award departing within the next 2 weeks.

Availability popped up today on CX, QF and BA for the flight. Have called AA several times but they don't see it. JL online also don't see the seats.

Discounting CX as they might offer different availability to Asia miles members, does anyone have any clues about how this situation might go?

The inventory appeared first on CX, then later on QF and BA. Is it likely I'll be able to grab these seats on AA at some point later assuming no one else does? Is there some issue with periodic manual refresh of their system, similarly with JL? Or is it more likely the QF/BA availability is phantom?

Thanks for any hints!

This same problem occurs elsewhere. I found 4 days in J, the week I wanted CNS/HKG on CX using AS miles, called them said we only have 2xJ on one day, it was a day after I wanted so grabbed them. I checked back on CX Marco Polo Awards, sure enough the original 4 days still there, so I think its limited to what a third party has available.

I found JL pretty spot on for Alaska redemptions.

If you have have multiple connections though get them to search each flight # then put it all together.

Sometimes looking for the whole flight shows up nothing.

Funny thing is that when I have called AA to book CX SYD-Europe in J they have availability, but when I called back the second time a few minutes later just looking at SYD-HKG there were no SYD-HKG flights in J on CX at all around when I wanted to fly. So there may be a zone issue with AA, SYD-Europe (Aust/NZ to Europe) is available on CX metal in J but simply SYD-HKG (Aust/NZ to Asia South) in J is not. This is why people may see different availability on different sites.

I did finally get this booked.

I called every day as the availability went up and down on CX, BA and QF, but always showing a minimum of 2 seats. Every time AA saw nothing.

Finally, late on Friday I noticed that BA was showing 5 seats in U class. Called AA and they could now see some seats...I don't know how many, I should've asked. Anyway, I was able to grab 2 seats...for travel today.

I did have to babysit the ticketing process a bit as it just sat 'On Request' for 24 hours...by which time online check in was already open and available pairs of seats disappearing. Called the AU number again and after 5 mins or so on hold the international credit card verification was completed and tickets issued.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I'm also in a similar situation. I see 2 J seats from HKG-CNS in september on QF, but nothing on BA. Called up AA and they see nothing as well. Given that September is a while away, whats the best way of monitoring and hopefully booking this on AA?

QF and BA typically always match, so my hunch is that QF is reporting phantom here. You should also check with JAL Mileage Bank to see what they see.

Good advice, thank you! Thats what I thought. CX however are also showing 2 J seats for redemption - but being the home carrier, that's hardly surprising. It was the disparity between BA and QF that threw me off ...

OK, well as you say, I generally try not to read anything into what CX reports, but also I would say typically that BA, QF and CX DO match each other. In this case you really must check was JL says.

So anyway, I was checking my Avios account and noticed that my previous search for HKG-CNS was saved, so what the hell. Checked for availability again and 2 reward seats magically appeared!!
