Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Still looks like they have a few of the winter dishes going, eg the croissant pudding.

Interestingly, says All Day Dining menu available from 11am - didn't this used to be 12noon?
Changed a couple of months ago, in SYD at least.
Over the 10 years since the lounges opened it has changed reasonably regularly. At once stage I believed this was due to daylight saving - but it didn't change with the clocks.

Looking forward to visiting the SYD FLounge for the first time soon (though the list of choices on the SYD menu posted does appear to be small there are some good choices available). I've already been to the MEL FLounge a couple of times.

Is it possible to get them to make anything from the all day menu prior to 11am?

Sometimes possible but helps if the staff knows you and more importantly the prep has been done in the kitchen. However it looks as though the reduced menu, and hence kitchen renovations, is still in place in SYD so less chance than usual during this period.

My final SYD visit for the year is in a few weeks so I'm kinda hoping this menu is still in place as it has some of my favourites from the winter choices.

Hope you enjoy it, it's a great place to be for a few hours. Will be interested to see how you compare it to HKG Pier F.

The time I spent in the Pier F was mostly in the dining room so any comparison I could make would be mainly comparing my thoughts on the dining. I hope in that regard the SYD FLounge will be pretty similar to the MEL FLounge. There was a good range of food on the menu. Hope the lounge isn't too crowded. At MEL F in the evening before QF9 at Winter time I got a table for 3 easily. This time I'll just need a table for 1.

I'm sure I will enjoy it, thanks! There seems to have been a lot of plane delays recently looking at the news. Hope flights from MEL to SYD run on time the day I travel.

Another first world crisis remains, however. At the end of a lovely long chat with Isabella, she asked me my views on the menu. After praising one of the dishes I had, I took the opportunity to lament the fact that sashimi no longer seems to ever be on the menu, and the prawns that used to be in the self serve area have also disappeared.

She confirmed many people had commented on the sashimi. But it was unlikely to return. I strongly encouraged her to raise the feedback with the powers that be. Sadly she thought the big wigs wouldn’t take any notice of her views.

Personally, I’m pretty sure I’d say yes to anything Isabella asked me. But I guess that’s one of many reasons I’m not an important executive at Qantas.

I like the new menu. Those first three small plates look good; might have to try them all! Nice to see meatballs back after about a two-year absence? The wine list does look a little samey and uninspired though.
