Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

I fly mainly LAX-SYD, just wondering how the dining in SYD and MEL F lounge compares to HKG, LHR, NRT etc

It kicks them in the knackers, punches them in the gut as they fall down and stomps on their head whilst they are lieing crying on the floor.
 
IMHO way better. I've been in all of lounges mentioned including LHR CCR.

How do you usually fly back to LAX Kempvet?

I usually purchase a return ticket LAX-SYD-LAX where possible with an AA flight number. I set my own agenda these days so usually have no problems returning when I need to.

Think I may have found a reason why they took the pav off:

We’ve got this amazing kind of deconstructed pavlova. Now I pulled the traditional pav off the winter because it’s so great with a summer fruit – the best ones we’ve had have been passion fruit, mango, that sort of thing. But we created a winter version, it’s actually a trifle, which has pear and rhubarb. We make a ginger butternut cookie in-house, which is crumbled, and then we put in glacé ginger, pear gelato and mascarpone cream. It’s essentially very similar to a pavlova, both visually and texturally.

Looks like it may come back in the warmer months...

Has anyone else been recently who can give some feedback on the winter menu?

This was last month... Really enjoyed the burger and salt &pepper squid. Wife loved the angus too! Yum

Ate in the MEL lounge on Wednesday. S&P squid was excellent as always and the duck was good too!

Loved the trifle!! I'll be sad when it goes..

Can the regular f lounge flyers tell me what is the etiquette in the lounge? I have a pass to visit, and have a flight to HK next month. So.... What happens there...I'm intrigued. Do you go for breakfast/ lunch or dinner, and order as if at a restaurant? Also, I'm flying with a friend who has gold membership, but I assume my once only pass will admit me, not my friend ??
 
Not sure about access for your friend. In the Flounge (in SYD, haven't been to MEL), there's a separate area for sitting & dining. You'll be seated & order like at a restaurant. There's also an island bar where you can sit & eat.
There's some self-service areas for tea/coffee & snacks. I think if you're seated in the general seating areas, there are staff who will bring drinks to you; but you can go up to the bar.
 
MEL is pretty much the same as SYD as Katie described, just not as big.
If you are not sure what to do, just ask. The staff are very helpful.
 
I haven't seen one of these passes, but I have heard they only admit one. Not saying you could not both get in, perhaps if you are inclined you could politely ask, but be prepared for a possible 'no' as an answer.

In MEL I have been offered the option to eat at the dining tables or the 'comfy' sitting areas (dining table far more preferable for me) - usually after you enter the lounge and turn right and head down towards the dining area someone will approach you and offer you seating.

breakfast is until midday, the 'all-day dining' is after it (though some 'all-day' items are available from 1100). The all-day menu is usually about 8 or 10 dishes divided into two groups of four or five (usually a couple of daily specials as well), along with 'signature' sandwiches and side dishes. I tend to treat the first group as entree and the second as main. I don't normally do more than two courses though have been known to do entree, main and dessert on one occasion. :oops: You do order as if in a restaurant. Whether it is b/fast or all-day items depends on the time of day.

My own faves are the salt an pepper squid, and the steak. Pork belly is also good when available, but I imagine te whole thing is pretty good. Hope your friend is able to access but even if they can't, if you won't have another opportunity to use he pass, then I think you should use it yourself (be a shame to waste it) to dine and have a champers, then perhaps join your friend as their guest in the business lounge.

If the restaurant area is full or even if you just prefer to it is possible to order from the menu and eat anywhere in the lounge.
If its your first time I would plan on checking in early and spending 2 1/2- 3 hours there.
Don't want to rush things ;)
