Hi All

I’m trying to work out what my status credit earn would be on Cathay Pacific/Cathay Dragon from Hanoi to Vancouver via Hong Kong return in A class HK-VAN and J class from HK-Hanoi crediting to QFF

Can anyone help?
Thanks

Similar question: But which is the best scheme. I will fly Cathay business to NY from Sydney (via HK). I am Platinum QF and "Green" Cathay. The points earn would be similar.

For Cathay: Points are worth more as "less" taxes. I already have 70,000 with Cathay.
For Qantas: Helps with Platinum One potential qualification (Yes I know I have to do majority of flights on Qantas) and the small chance of an ODU on the JFK legs to first.

If you don't need the SCs, then crediting CX (and EK, QF, BA) to Alaska can give a high-value points return

For anyone thinking of using status and then crediting to a different program when flying CX - flew a couple of flights last week that were in non-earning classes for QFF. Kept my QFF WP number in there when boarding, until about 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time, as the last passengers were getting to their seats. Then in the Cathay app I put my BA number in. In both cases the flights credited to BA 3 days later without any issues. The crew seemed to give me the OWE treatment in both cases.

Thanks everyone. I don’t fly Qantas much so the opportunity to be a few status credits away from gold is the way to go for me I think

I just had a points claim rejected. Bought a ticket through expedia. Economy "S" ticket PER-HKG-PVG. Pretty disappointed that it earns no points/status, even though the points calculator suggests all economy seats get points...
Have had a similar experience with Qatar. What's the point in flying oneworld if you get no points for the cheaper ticket? Doesn't help retain loyalty to the network.

Same - found that it was O class when my retro claim was unsuccessful and I called up (it was purchased through QF website but even the e-ticket doesn't show the fare class)

If you are referring to this page, it refers you direct to the Airline Earn table straight under the Calculator itself.

Thanks, I just had another look at the earn tables. Nowhere does it say anything about some fare classes being ineligible? Unless I can't find it. Even clicking through the fine print links it just links you back to partner airline earning table. Pretty confusing.

If a booking class isn't listed in the table for an airline, then it doesn't earn anything.

It's a bit misleading if they have that points calculator which has the categories of "discount economy" and "economy" and makes no mention of "booking class".

This link does make mention of "booking class" but doesn't go into any further details.

"Airlines break down each cabin on the aircraft into different sub-classes, each of which are given an alpha code.
These generally determine the fare you pay, the conditions attached to your booking and the amount of Qantas Points and Status Credits you could earn."

Agree it would be better if they listed non-earning point classes (typically discount Y, and obviously redemptions).

The website

Is a good resource

Note that QF isn't alone in not credit cheap CX fares - a N/O/S fare also won't earn on AA or UL.. but does an BA

Late to the party on this one but it sounds like nuthq was a fellow winner of CX's new year's day flash sale. I credited mine to AS and earned enough points for a one-way Australia-US award in J. However, if I'd credited the flights to QF I would have earned enough points for a one-way Perth-Broome award. In Y.

Sure did @Danger. I know what you mean, will I soft land to gold from platinum on QFF? This might change my decision on where to credit!

If you are unable to make the retain criteria to retain a certain tier, then you'd soft land to a tier below your current tier.

To retain QF Plat one'd need 1200 SC in the membership year and if they are unable to earn 1200 SC in the membership year, they will soft land to QF Gold
