With the upcoming reduced points earn on Virgin Money cards, the points per dollar earn rate for non-AMEX cards is either pathetic, or expensive

From what I can gather the best options are:
-NAB AMEX/Visa combo 0.5/$1 on Visa (I already have this and haven't so far used the Visa)
-Global Wallet Visa 0.5pt/$1 for domestic spend
-Virgin Flyer Visa 0.66pt/$1, $129 fee

-Virgin High Flyer 1pt/$1, $289 fee

I'm not keen on less than 1pt/$1, and even though I think the $289 Virgin High Flyer is poor value, I can't see that any other card offers 1pt/$1

Of the bank-issued credit cards, I'm confused about the Citibank offering on the Velocity site. This link says 1.5 Citi points = 1 Velocity (so 0.75pt/$1):
https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.c...ex.htm?icmpid=VFF_creditcards_transfer_button

But when you click on the Citi logo for more info it says "1 Velocity Point per 2 Citi Rewards"
https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Info/Citibank/

Does anyone know what the actual Velocity earn rate is for Citi cards? Even though they are very expensive at $700 and $400 for the higher earning cards

What are you all doing?

I think the Citibank website is a little confused due to announced changes in conversion rates. The current earn rate of Citi Prestige is 1.33 pt/$, decreasing to 1 pt/$ in March.

ANZ Rewards Black is currently 1 pt/$, but it's possible they will change the rate, as none of the big banks have announced any reward points changes yet.

So 1 pt/$ will be the best rate in a few months. Just have to decide which of those cards works best for you.

I've got the Citibank Signature which converts to 1 Velocity per $1 until March 18, 2016. It is fee free for life (until they decide they can change the rules) so I'll be keeping it after March 18th since it will still be .75 points per $1 I believe. I'm considering taking up the NAB Premium combo to grab the 60,000 points and then only use the AMEX for non-supermarket/petrol station purchases.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

ANZ Rewards Black is currently 1 pt/$

Do you know what the transfer rate for ANZ to Velocity is? Either way, ANZ Rewards Black is still more expensive than Virgin High Flyer, but at least it has a sign-on bonus

I believe it's 2 ANZ rewards points per dollar for the Visa. The conversion is 2 ANZ rewards points = 2 Velocity points. Therefore 1 Velocity point per dollar.

current nab deal is pretty good with 60,000 points, will probably sign up early feb

I think that the VGW is the best one these days, using my own money, and also 0.5points:Aud$1 in Aust or 1point:$1 spent overseas.
No credit card annual fee either.
Those AMEX ones, even if 1:1, some do come with high annual fees, and you have to be very strict with yourself to pay back the debt, or it can balloon out of control.
Pity that the VGW wasn't 1point:Aud$1 for spendings in Aust though, as Rev does not face any debts, or chances of it, and that they will always have the funds to cover any purchase.
