I recently gifted Gold to someone, and they are now in the process of moving their flights and credit cards over to Virgin. So we have another convert!

But they are struggling to find a credit card that does not have a cap on the number of velocity points in a month or year you can earn. This person can put $20,000 through their card in a month, so is looking for a card that can handle that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Ryan

It depends on how they are spending it. If it is a lot of bills or supermarkets/petrol or others.

For Virgin the best combo seems to be Citibank Sig and Amex Plat Edge. Even the NAB Velocity Card is OK giving 1.5 points per dollar on the Amex.

If you can shed some light on their spending habits that would help.

Westpac Altitude Black is one that comes to mind.

Virgin money high flyer if using VISA (1.25 points per $), NAB platinum velocity for Amex (1.5 per $). Both are direct earn cards, the NAB very cheap annual fee ($150) for receiving both an amex and visa (and bonus points at moment). I use both these cards and can't really beat their earn rates (Citibank signature visa earns points at 1.5 but converts to only 1.0 Velocity points)

Apart from of course some selected retailers that can earn 2 or 3:1 on certain AMEX issued cards. But nab 1.5:1 on all amex purchases evens out fairly well

Do the points go straight to your Velocity account every month or do you are to do transfers? If so what's the transfer rate?

No, they stay in the warehouse until you need them so no risk of expiry. Transfer rate is 2:1. Just be aware though that if your acquaintance is planning on using this card for ATO payments, from 9 Nov it will no longer be much good for this.

ANZ Rewards Black + Amex Platinum Edge would probably be a good combination for the VA flyer with ATO bills. (If had big VA spend the Amex Velocity Plat might be worth thinking about)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

CBA diamond allows 1.5pts/$ on Amex and has v large cap, 500,000 va Pts / year?

I use the Virgin money High Flyer Visa card. There is no cap and offers 1.25 points per $.

I have had this card for about 5 years and have had no problems with Citi
