Recently was due to fly out of Brisbane to Athens. Athens to Kythria the next morning. That evening a fog covered all Brisbane and all flights where delayed. This caused me to lose one night accommodation at Athens Airport ( non refundable ) and all flights to Kythira on the following days were fully booked out.
The only way to get to Kythira was a cab from Athens Airport to Neapolis at a cost of 450 euro ( about $650 Au ) and catch a ferry boat to the island.
I spoke with Covermore and made my claim online , which was very easy and it was processed and paid out within a few weeks.
Would recommend and use Covermore again.

My wife had a nasty fall on some ice in Hakuba a few years back and we thought for a while she may have broken her wrist. It was late at night and local doctors/medical centre was closed and the only option was to get a cab to and from Nagano of around $200 each way from memory + hospital expenses.
Covermore couldn't have been more accommodating and seemed genuinely concerned for her health. Told us everything we needed to do including all documentation, etc. and followed up with us in the following days to see whether we needed any further assistance. Claim was processed and paid out a few weeks after returning to Australia.
We don't book insurance through anyone else now.

Good news is that it was just a bad sprain and it happened on our last night so no skiing was affected. She also now has a Japanese Health Care Card as a souvenir.

I prefer Covermore because last year when I actually read the fine print, I couldnt find any exclusions for death of family member due to persons age as a lot cut off at 84yrs. This is important for us as father in law at the time (he passed in November) was 92 and mother in law is currently in her 80s.

Glad to hear you had good responses from them.

May I ask if those above who have had a good experience with Covermore, was this an Annual or trip specific policy?

I would think bus to Neapolis would have been a much cheaper option and surprised insurance company paid for the cab.

Excellent result.

John, I was originally staying in Kythera from Sunday morning until Thursday morning (4 full days ). The ferry from Neapolis to Diakopti Port in Kythira only runs at 9:00 am every day. This would have meant I would not get to Kythira until Tuesday morning. This way I got 3 full days.
