Dear all, I am planning a trip to Costa Rica (from Syd) and would love some leads about best method of combining the pathway of flights needed to get there. I usually fly qantas and am open to suggestions from experienced flyers to that area. It seems that I can get to SJO from LA, Dallas, Miami or Honolulu (to LI). Any suggestions gratefully received.

Have been to costa rica twice in past 2 years...we have flown to Liberia ( LIR ) from both DFW and MIA as we have stayed near Tamarindo in the Guanacaste province...Currently AA only fly to LIR from MIA...Sorry I cant help with SJO but I can tell you that the roads are very poor and intra country travel by air is the preferred way...For instance its a 4 hour bumpy car ride from San Jose to Tamarindo and about 3 hours to Arenal

you have two OW choices i think... best path would be

QF SYD-LAX
AA LAX-MIA
AA MIA-SJO

or

QF SYD-SCL
LAN SCL-LIM
LR LIM-SJO

personally id rather the south American route, but only to avoid the horrid AA flights!
