We have confirmed EK F awards from BNE-SEA (also EK F our return form EWR-BNE), but I have seen some SYD-LAX & SYD-DFW awards pop up around the same dates we are travelling.

As an overall trip the SYD-LAX/DFW probably make for a 'smoother itinerary', but from reading is that EK is a better experience then QF F - but I guess we do have the benefit of 27hrs in EK F on the way home, oh the 1st world problems :p:p

Urgh, what to do!?!?

With awards - why connect when you can go direct :)

If I was going to split .... I'd go the long way first. Coming home after a holiday (assuming it's a holiday) I'd want the flight to be short as possible.

EK all the way it is!! (somehow I thought that was going to be the consensus :D).

It really doesn't add a great deal of time coming back through DXB from NYC anyhow, so we're not too worried about the return - it's also early December so the QF flights may not even be available when the release date for us NB's roll around :)

I love awards because they let me mix carriers, do crazy itineraries with multiple connections in obscure places and try products I could not otherwise afford. Why go direct when you could connect?
I am doing exactly this next December. The weirdest combo of airlines ever. EK, RJ, EL AL, Egypt Air, Qatar and then Qantas. A mix of J, Y and F. Just wish the F was EK or Qatar though.
