Hello..

I am looking at connecting at BNE from a flight originating in SIN (QF52) on QF8 (BNE to SYD). My question is.. Am I better to use a domestic flight, due to the potential of QF8 to be late?
Reason for going via BNE is price is cheaper than direct on the day I need to travel.

Thanks

You never know, however if the flight is delayed there is a chance QF will move you to domestic anyway, I would not be too fussed.

I'd just leave it the way it is. If it's on-time you'll only be in transit in BNE as Customs formalities will be in SYD as you have an int to int connections.

You will know before you depart SIN whether the QF8 is on-time as it will have departed DFW hours before.

If QF8 is late, you could either ask SIN staff to transfer you to the non-stop SIN/SYD flight if they have seats.

If they can't do that ask them to only check you in on QF52 only & make sure your bag tag says BNE not BNE/SYD otherwise it won't come off the carousel in BNE. Then just clear customs in BNE & when you exit the customs hall turn right & head down to the domestic transfer desk who will put you on a domestic flight BNE/SYD.

They will accept your checked bag there if there is an hour or more before your flight otherwise you can take your suitcase on the TBus up to the domestic terminal & lodge it there as long as there is more than 30 minutes before your flight departure.

Travelled SIN -BNE -SYD several times last year QF52/QF8. Never had a problem with making the connection at BNE
