"Congratulations, you've maintained Gold" email ... 6 months before review date

Just had an interesting email from Velocity pop into - a few days ago, I reached the required SCs to maintain Gold again this year, although my review date isn't until March, so was quite surprised to receive the following email:

Climb higher than ever before

Congratulations, you have successfully maintained your Gold membership. Shortly after your review date, 7 March 2018, we will send you a new Gold membership pack. This pack will include your new membership card, so you can enjoy Gold membership for a further 12 months. But why stop now? You can take your membership to the next level - Platinum, and enjoy more exclusive benefits when your Status Credit balance reaches 1,000 and you have flown 8 Eligible Sectors.

Obviously encouraging me to try for Platinum (I've got more than enough eligible sectors, but the SCs just aren't going to happen LOL) but it's the first time I received acknowledgment during the year that I've achieved requalification. Has anyone else received an email like this, or is it maybe something new from Velocity?

I re qualified for WP about a month ago and no email or new welcome pack. Of course, no incentive for VA to encourage me to a 4th tier...

I am about to requalify or platinum less than 2 months after my last review date, so will inform.

I always get the welcome pack/requalification pack in the mail, though. Just got the latest with the fancy new card.

I of course won't be getting my pack, card etc until sometime in March LOL - will be interesting to see whether they've updated the Gold (non-Global Wallet version) card by then.

I have been told GOLD was updated months ago...

VA GOLD (non-debit card version) FF card & bag tag (front and back pics - gold bag tag with purple backside).
The obscured parts of each pic (the card and bag tag), have FF# and individual's name printed on them.

Must have been at some stage after my last review date (early March) then - the new (non Global Wallet) Gold card I received a few weeks later was still the "old" version. Mr Jurahn's review date comes up next month, so will see then if he receives the updated card.

Husband just received the new Gold pack, after falling softly from WP. No problem, as we have revenue business class flights planned that will elevate him back to Plat sometime next year. However, we thought the new Gold cards are lovely and, as we opted for Global Wallet functionality, we have a Visa debit card printed on the back.
The extra luggage tags will come in handy and we know that, as a Gold member, he will still be very well looked after.

Loving the opportunity to plan and fly to new destinations with VA.

I always think of flying the way I think about golf: An ordinary day doing it, is STILL better than a great day in my ground level office.....

For the haters, looking through my past emails this afternoon, I forgot that I had received the following when I retained WP about seven months early -



They also stated that my next target should be Companion Gold.....

So WP have not been forgotten and Companion Gold is only 900 SC less than what the opposition requires.

I just completed a soft landing after failing to requal as Platinum (was never going to happen!!) can confirm that the new Gold packs are in the mix and coming out, so Mr Jurahan should get the fancy new card & tags.

I didn't get a new Platinum pack last time as I hit it too early although with a bit of luck and maybe a sneaky status run I'll be able to scrape over the line early next year before I lose a stack of SC's
