Mainly with online travel agents such as Zuji, HotelClub etc. Is this done on purpose or is it too difficult to maintain a database of this size?

This booking is with Zuji. So please tell me if breakfast is included in this rate or not. Customer care are telling me breakfast not included. Some online travel agents offer room only rates but the hotel only sells rooms including breakfast.

By the way the price is for 4 nights.

I'd go with breakfast included. It says it in booking and also hotel description. Other meals not included.

I try never book through 3rd party. Most hotels have "best price guaranteed" on their websites.

[/I][/COLOR]Pretty unequivocal.

Not that easy.

The Eastiny hotels and the Sunshine & residences hotel both have breakfast included in their room rate when you book on their website.

Some online travel agents sell Room Only rates that do not included breakfast. Trust me. I have purchased some of these rates (as they are cheap and I do not normally need breakfasd) and there is no breakfast included. The only way to go to breakfast in morning is with a voucher issued by reception. If you room rate does not qualify then you do not receive a voucher.

This time around I will have someone with me and I want to make sure breakfast is included. Zuji customer care is trying to tell me breakfast is not included.

I want clarification before I book the room. I do not want to deal with Thai reception when they refuse to issue breakfast coupons as your rate does not include it and the website is confusing. One of the other descriptiosn at payment time is breakfast included and "Room Only" which I sent to Zuji first time around.

I doubt it would help even if Zuji tells you breakfast included. The hotel will tell you wha they think and Trying to call someone at Zuji from Pattaya to help you out will be a challenge. I would book it through someone else that is a bit more professional like Agoda which is based in Thailand.

My interpretation would be that you can probably get a paid 'full breakfast' which would not be included, hence the advice from Zuji (I guess they would want to sell you the full breakfast, as they would get commission? Don't know how Zuji works).

But you will get a 'complimentary buffet breakfast' in any event (so its always 'included'), which may be coffee/tea out of the urns in reception area, a muffin in cellophane and apples and bananas in a bowl. Ok for grab 'n go type of situation (like Holiday Inns in USA) but not what I'd look forward to if its a holiday / I'm staying put type of situation.

As vec says, in situations like this I'm pretty comfortable in not getting the breakfast inclusive rate, as something down the road is usually satisfactory. Exception being if its isolated, or in a very non English city 9like Moscow) where I want a feed on the first morning no matter what!

Sounds like it is this:
Zuji selling you a room. they are not adding breakfast to the room. The hotel says it comes with free breakfast. Whether it does or does not its not Zuji's problem because Zuji is only selling room. If hotel's kitchen gets burnt down and can't provide breakfast its not Zuji's problem as they only sold you room. If you get breakfast then thats the hotel's business. If you are not happy with the quality of breakfast you got no recourse to zuji as they only sold you room. You then go to hotel and hotel tell you to go to Zuji to get refund.

My solution is easy.

Go to hotel website and book through them. Easier, less hassles. You can then deal with hotel direct from booking until checkout.

As valuable and knowlegeable the brains trust here is on AFF, if you book through zuji, you have to then deal with zuji. Any problems later with hotel and you will have to deal with zuji after the fact. By that time they have run off with your money and are no longer interested. And you will then get the run around by the hotel and zuji.

It will be like a problem with computer system. The computer vendor will say its microsoft windows and microsoft will say its the computer...

A lot of hotel websites will have "best rate guaranteed" meaning you will not get a better deal elsewhere. (Gotta check though)

Also Zuji wants money now and booking is nonrefundable and non changeable. Booking with hotel means that unless you book the internet special which requires prepayment you can reserve with ccard and only pay at checkout and in most cases they will accomodate changes/cancellations until 24 hrs before checkin date.

Dont be meat in sandwich...

I have stayed in this hotel before. Breakfast is buffet breafast. Omelette or any style eggs, potatoes, fruit etc.

This booking is cheper than hotel website. Same as Agoda before 10% discount. My concern is hotel will see it as room only booking.

I have booked through HotelClub for room only in past ss saving was significant as I have breakfast included as part of golf. Last prepaid Zuji booking did not exist when I arrived at hotel but the hotel knew I was arriving and put me up in another hotel. Did Zuji know?

It shouldn't be this difficult. Should it?

No, it shouldn't but like others above I have problems with these third party 'aggregators'. Often its just a bunch of electrons being swapped between the hotel and the third party a (as opposed to a formal negotiated arrangement) and if the channels don't align then its 'woops, sorry'.

(I have a small accommodation business here in Tasmania and once made the mistake of opening bookings up to this sort of third party. Once I saw how they were describing the place and the pricing and T&C they put on it, I got out of the arrangement as soon as I could.)

But I'm not a budget type of guy; obviously with enough stays savings through third parties can be significant and therefore persevering with the occasional glitch.

If Zuji are promising that breakfast is included, and you get there and find its not, you would have a claim against Zuji to reimburse you for the cost of the breakfast.

Looked up Trip Advisor to see if the issue was discussed there. Not that I could see, but it sounds a lively place! :)

You are probably right.

Zuji has it listed for $201 - 10% discount. Agoda has same room listed for $201 (no doubt breakfast is included) and I think the cash back from Agoda is 4% or 5% so not a lot of difference to Zuji price.

Lively but full of rude and obnoxious Russians. The place is close to the Golf society so very convenient for us. My Thai girlfriend tells me we can just ignore the Russians.
