Hi guys,
I couldn't find the answer in the forum as it's quite specific so I hope someone can help;
I have been a velocity member retaining either gold or platinum since 2011 but a friend just asked me a question I really wasn't sure about. She has VA gold and has already retained it for this year. Since this, she has done a few more flights allowing her status balance to reach just over 1000 points. The trick is her account specifies that she has earned just over 700 of these sc within the last 12 months.
She then asked me if this means she will still be entitled to upgrade to platinum or not. She referred to the velocity website where it says "once your status balance hits 1000 you will qualify for platinum" whereas in the gold section of her account, it said how many status credits she needed to reach within a 12 month period.Therefore she is interpreting this as she will hit platinum since her status credit balance has hit over 1000.
Yet I'm wondering if the general rule of thumb is that you needed to earn a full 1000sc during the 12 month period.
Does this make sense? In basic terms, do you need to earn a total 1000 sc in 12 months or will you hit platinum so long as at some point in the 12 months your balance reaches 1000?
I've honestly never thought about this as I always earn more than required to at least retain gold.
