I've just reached Silver status with Virgin (almost by accident). I see that you get two complimentary lounge passes - does anyone know if you can bring a guest with you into the lounge using one of these passes?

Thanks for the responses. That is slightly annoying that you need to use one of the passes for a guest, but understandable.

As silver you can join the lounge and they waive the joining fee. I joined for $300 for a year. Worth looking into if you want.

I did look into this, but I'm firmly in the QFF camp and rarely actually fly VA. I already have Qantas Club access too, so probably not worth it in my case.

If I mainly flew VA (but not enough to reach Gold) I would almost certainly pay the $300/year.

I am QF Gold as well, but alternate between the two airlines.

I was going to ask the exact same question as OP but I was beaten to it! The replies have certainly made me happy and I have since read the other similar threads which confirm guest entry.

Thanks to family pooling and some careful planning I reached Silver the other day (by a long way actually, but the return sector status credits and points haven't shown up yet) and we will be flying again next Sunday for another short holiday. I am keen to use up my two lounge passes on Sunday morning, because after this getaway I will have reached Gold, and was also hoping that I could spend them on myself and my wife who remains at Red level due to the family pooling arrangement.

I will be in a position late next week to absolutely confirm if it is possible nowadays for a Silver member to scan their card twice and use one of the passes on lounge entry for their companion.

Its is already confirmed by other members including myself as I have done it. You can use the single entry passes for guests as long as you are one of the passengers. You just let the lounge staff know and no issue.

Yes yes yes I'm aware of that, but some responses were from episodes that happened years ago. Things could have changed. I had to find out for myself.

Technically I reached Silver on July 17th but it took a few days for it to be processed. Interestingly my status credits were virtually live (at 350) but my level was still listed as Red. I rang to get it changed before I selected seats for my next flight on the 24th, which they did immediately as I was worried that I might not be granted lounge access either.

Happy to report that I and +1 were granted lounge access as described by others as allowed under my Silver membership. Disappointed to discover that only a Continental and not a full breakfast is offered there!

Domestic lounges are very overrated actually. nothing more than a comfy seat and free WiFi. Food is mehhhh.......unless you love toasties and cold meat salad for breakfast.
Shame really as it wouldn't be that hard to step it up a notch.
