Got some bad news... Apparently Gold Coast Airport won't allow complimentary guest passes to be used unless your a Qantas club member. Damnn

Out of interest is there a reason why? Is OOL excluded in the terms and conditions?

I rang Qantas and they said that OOL doesn't accept single Lounge Passes there. I got a taste of the Qantas service centre though that some others have mentioned on here.

I’m not sure OOL is an excluded QP, did you try and link the pass to your booking online?

Had a quick look and couldn't find anything. Although there is a big red banner to say they're not accepted in SIN.
Even that surprises me. SIN is a Qantas lounge unless Qantas have acknowledged they have capacity issues there until they build the First lounge.

Hmm wonder when that came into effect. I last used a single lounge pass in November on the Gold Coast just before a Jetstar flight.

I'd describe it as very full but that's just bad English, like saying very unique. Capacity issues abound at OOL.

The vast majority are flying JQ in that lounge, that much is clear to see if you enter early enough and watch who leaves every time a JQ flight is called. Not saying they don't have the right to be there of course, the rules allow it and I have used the lounge plenty of times myself on JQ, but they designed the space for a time when there was much less capacity. When it was a JQ lounge it was actually a nice space and usually empty, then QF took it back when they re-introduced their 3 QF services (now 4) a day and they failed to take into account the number of JQ services also operating.

Sounds like Singapore lounge planning to me.

Last 2-3 of times I've been in to OOL Lounge over the last 6 months or so as WP I've been asked if I'm flying JQ or QF. Always been QF and have never (so far) been knocked back. I wonder what the response would have been if I'd been flying JQ.

Regards,

BD

I imagine same as QF, you are entitled to access after all. I believe they make note that JQ flights are called once, but QF gets multiple, or some such.
