Comped GOLD - Flew only 200 SC - Was status matched last year

So I just got an email from Virgin like this:

Dear Mr Congee, In appreciation of your loyalty and in recognition of being so close to maintaining your Status, we would like to reward you with Velocity Gold membership. You can continue to enjoy these benefits:

Thing is I think I did only 200 SC, but did 2600SC on QF. I was quite prepared to lose my status.

Anyone else get it? Has Virgin renewed all comped flyers as part of a larger business strategy?
