Guess my long socks with sandals and shorts won't be ok. :(

Probably would look better than sandals and short socks (as in business type socks), but methinks you would need to have a certain "something" to be able to pull it off on the day. Perhaps a DYKWIA attitude that would silence all critics.

Cold on April 9! How will you cope in winter? :) (I have just left CBR having spent 11 winters there so I do know what I am talking about.)
I've lived in Canberra for 30 years now and after dark in Canberra will definitely be cold in April. I cope with Canberra winters by a) having everything insulated that possibly can be (double glazing, insulated curtains, walls, roof, concrete slab). b) hibernating. c) flying North as much possible when not hibernating. Currently I have holidays booked for Gold Coast in April, Darwin in July, Hong Kong in August and am currently looking at Cairns for June. :)

So how many other AFFers will be there tonight? I'll be there but will probably only stay for an hour or so...

I'll be there - the one not drinking any coughtails. I hope they have some good non-alcoholic drinks available!

I'll be there. Looking forward to meeting all other AFFers (and FTers) attending.

Would love to be there! Sent an e-mail to the RSVP person, explaining the situation and asking if I could accompany Mr FM, but did not even receive the courtesy of a reply..... Pretty rude I thought. Mr FM isn't going either.

I'm here and appear to be one of the very few under 30 years of age. If anyone else reads this I' the one with a black leather satchel.

Never did get an invite so they missed out on my rapier wit and deep insights into what makes a flyer loyal. Could those who did get the guernsey (or the baggy green) let us know what transpired? Thanks in anticipation. (BTW I once knew a business manager who used to end the organisation's letters for payment in arrears with that line!)

Also under 30 here but I see no black satchel. I'm the one with the grey blazer and my blonde friend with the light pink jacket

Lesley (QFF CEO) seemed friendly and genuine, but announcement-wise nothing new transpired that hasn't already graced this forum. They talked about how excited they are about the Emirates partnership, how the reduction in points for Jetstar awards is good value (!), the QFF travel cash card etc before a draw that gave away some FF points and a few wine packs.

Didn't you get Mr Flying Mermaid to phone to ask if he could bring a Plus 1? You really need to fly to the warmth of BNE next time :)

Only managed to catch up with PeteJ and RG1 agree no new announcements but asked Lesley about the points earn on the new card and she said all will be revealed but she did say you earn points on the transfer then again on the spend. That may not be news but hadn't picked up on that before.

Any update on timing release of the cash card? Travel os mid July, hoping its operational by then.

Lesley said that people will be asked if they're interested in late May - then the card won't be available until Q3 2013.

He was being difficult and said I was being childish to want to go to a silly marketing do.....So I sent a very nice e-mail to the contact on the RSVP asking if I could come too. I expected to get a polite brush off - Canberra is so packed with plats and higher, they probably did have to exclude people. However no reply at all. I would never have tolerated staff in my business not responding to a client! I did a quick count of status credits and by August our family will be way over 30,000 status credits - all booked and paid by me (and most of it on Qantas). That's not counting the many years of flying with Qantas pre becoming a FF. Anyway Mr FM is now very happy as he has been trying to talk me into trying options other than Qantas for years and I've refused to consider it (apart from one flirtation with Etihad), but now I am cranky enough to do it. Will be up in BNE next week - having 5 days on the Gold Coast to thaw out and yum Seafood buffets :). And a day in Brisbane to catchup with some relatives.
