Hello.

Have found myself in Cairns and may be flying out on a burner later this week.

Was wondering if anyone can comment on whether a proper meal is included on this route now or whether is still just flexi wrap if on a flexi ticket and cup of T for a saver ticket?

If not, is the Q direct flight full service?

Also is there a V lounge here these days?

Lots of questions, haha
Thanks:?:

Can't comment on the food since I don't fly VA.
But QF is full service and there's no VA lounge yet, it's still being built.

Only one direct VA CNS-MEL on weekdays, its a B737-800 usually - all else via BNE or SYD. As for QF only one full service direct flight per weekday on QF (QF703) its also a B737-800 - everything else is either Jetstar or QF via BNE or SYD.

The two direct VA and QF flights are also inconveinently timed at the wrong time to get a lunch service.

A very average choice in my opinion. I would get QF925 CNS-SYD - at least you get a B767 but again - you miss lunch.

With VA you can upgrade to Business for about 12,000 points and then you get a really nice meal.

Thanks for that, the timing of both direct flights actually suit me, so maybe I will use a platinum upgrade for the trip on V.

What I don't quite understand is on a flight of that length if V want to be a real competitor to Q, one would have thought they would offer a meal similar to the service out of Perth.

Else if I go on Q i guess I will get more credits to get closer to gold and a hot meal?

I travel the Cairns Sydney route regularly on Qantas. Meals are usually fine - depending upon the Plane the IFE can be good. The customer service is always good. I often use points to upgrade and their business class service is very friendly.

I have not done the CNS-SYD trip for a while but have done it many times on QF and there is always a meal provided.

It use to be early in the morning or 5pmish departure time.

VA will not give you a meal unless you are in PE or business
