Hi All!
We're travelling on QF21 on Christmas Day (looking forward to hitting the snow in Niseko with the rest of Australia!)

Two questions for you gurus:
  • Island Dining in the QF business lounge - will this still happen on Christmas day?
  • Any chance of Christmas dinner in the lounge or onboard at all?

Thanks for your help!

Mike :)

Travelled on XMAs day before and nothing any different to a normal day.

Mind you have never done a international flight on Xmas day so can not comment on that.

I have flown on Xmas day numerous times with my family and there has never been any special food in lounge or on flights from my memory, but the normal standards are maintained. The staff are even more pleasant than they are normally due to the occasion. The bonus I found is the lounges and planes don't have anywhere near normal loads, so there is a lot of special treatment and travelling seems simpler with less people in queue, more seats available, and a more relaxed experience overall.

I suspect wok-fried Xmas Pudding or steamed turkey with bok-choy and chillie rice noodles would be the closest you'd get with a NP inspired Qantas offering.

Perhaps best to stick with the standard fayre!!

No island dining, the business lounge is closed for Christmas

I passed through the Melbourne domestic J lounge last week and there was a chef behind the servery preparing min hot ham rolls. The massive side of ham was also on display.

I've flown a lot on Christmas Days and I've never had anything Christmassy!

Once at Easter in the lounge was a small pile of coughpy chocolate eggs though, but it doesn't seem like Qantas get into the holiday spirit at all.

I flew at Xmas one year and the FA had a Christmas tie on, I thanked him for getting into the spirit of the season.

He told me that Qantas did not approve his wearing of the tie.

I'm pretty sure that I've enjoyed hot-cross buns previously on RCH Good Friday flights - though haven't been on one of these for a while now.

BD

Ive had Santa Clauses roaming around MEL QF terminal delighting kids

Maybe you've just been too naughty to have had the privilege ;)

Passed through intl j on Friday, and no Xmas food offerings, was some nice tinsel up though from memory

Flown both Christmas Day & Easter (Good Friday); nothing special on the flights or in the lounge - in fact, they were serving meat pies on Good Friday, which was a surprise, as we hadn't seen pies in the lounge for quite a while.

I agree the lounges are empty - no fighting for a seat or a "snack". :)

First time flying on Christmas this year - QF7 through to Dallas. My Christmas Day will be nearly 40 hours long this year!

Flying QF in J from SYD-BNE and they gave everyone a chocolate filled Bon Bon on Christmas Eve last year! Didn't take any notice of what happened in whY though.

Flown Xmas Eve back from HKG and CX was impressed with the Turkey with all the trimmings at The Pier.

We had that as well (also J, and also SYD-BNE) on Christmas Day.

The cart was also decorated :)

Flying Boxing Day this year so not sure if I'll see anything.
