Four of us are travelling PER-SIN-CDG in mid March. I understand that you can select your seat on-line beforehand. How early can this be done?

Welcome to AFF.

Is this an award booking or paid booking?

I was able to choose seats for an award booking more than 6 months in advance last year and I have already chosen seats for my next award booking in June.

I have never purchased an SQ airfare from their website so cannot help you there. I can't see why it would be different to an award booking. If worse comes to worse OLCI opens 48 hours before the flight.

Welcome to AFF, Mr B.

For Y bookings:
If you purchased on singaporeair.com(.au), you can select your seats immediately, and change them anytime online.
If you purchased from a travel agent, no advance seat selection is available (except to specify aisle or window thru the call centre.)

For J or F bookings:
If you purchased on website, you can select immediately etc.
If you purchased from a TA, your TA can request seats, or you can call SQ direct to select.

If your bookings are award redemptions, seats are selectable at time of redemption, if made on line.
If made off line, only J or F seats can be preselected, thru the Call centre.

In all cases, you can do on-line check in from 48 hours before departure, and select your seats there.

Thanks heaps. We booked through an agent. I did ring Singapore Air a few weeks ago and told the guy which seats we'd like. He said he would do his best, but I guess we won't know until OLCI is open. Ah well 48 hours is better than the 24 you get with Qantas.

I booked my flights with a TA and was able to select my seats online on my Y booking. This was last year for a flight in September.

The TA didnt have a clue though, at the time I said I believe you can pay extra for emergency exit seats, which he said you couldnt...funnily enough went online and guess what you can!

Thanks Logan. I just double checked, and you CAN book the exit seats online for a price, but the others aren't yet available. Looks like the 48 hour thing stilll applies.

Thanks albatross, but no joy. I suspect that because we've booked through a TA, there probably is no actual seat allocation, only our window or aisle preferences. Never mind, I'll be on-line exactly 48 hours before we take off.
