My sister & i flew china southern from brisbane to rome in april (business class). I have travelled with my husband numerous times on different airlines around the world and found china southern to be a wonderful airline. Our entire trip was in their new dreamliners. When we were travelling home, we had a planned stopover of 17 hours (our choice) and they escorted us from the arrivals all the way through the airport avoiding the queues etc and directly across to the most beautiful hotel for the stopover. (def a 6 star hotel) and then they came to the hotel and escorted us back through the customs lines (no queing) and direct into the bus lounge. Amazing service and a wonderful airline to fly with, and the best part was that the business class fare bris/rome/rome/brisbane was aus $4670 return. We have flown many airlines to europe and never had this amazing service and such beautiful brand new planes for this amazing price. China southern we give 10 stars.

Hi all,
Rather than starting a new thread, has anyone had recent experiences flying CZ in Y?
I'm flying MEL to CAN return in mid Dec and the online reviews range from scathing to positive.
I'll have no status with them so it will be my first flight in ages without priority check in/boarding/lounge access.

Hi, you might get a little bit more information from China Southern experiences in Y?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Select your seat ahead of the flight and go for the front rows seats. These are what they used to call Premium Economy for a while. They dropped the name as the difference between these seats and the regular Y seats was very small. More legroom, smaller cabin and fewer seats taken. You need to pay extra for these seats, the going rate was 400 Yuan Remimbi. This small fee discourages the cheap flyers and so you have a good chance to have 3 seats to yourself. BTW, the armrests can be raised except for the first row. Women with small babies that they hold in their arms to save on a seat for them usually sit in economy proper, which is the curtained off cabin behind you.

If you are loath to spend the extra money on such seats try your regular Y seat and if you do not find it to your liking contact the crew and say that you want to upgrade. They often do such upgrades during the flight and it may cost less than doing it before the flight. They take credit cards though may not take Amex.
