ok, this is probably a dumb question...

i tried to login to checkmytrip and have a look at seat allocations for my DCIR29 but it doesn't recognise my details. i'm entering the record locator from my AA ticketed fare and using the correct last name - am i missing something?

are record locator's different from the amadeus reservation number that it is asking for? incidently i can't login to check reservations on the other airlines websites for which i have flights (LA, QF) except AA...

If booked through AA, then the AA record locator is a Sabre record locator and not an Amadeus record locator. You need to ask AA or QF to provide you the Amadeus record locator.

If the itinerary of your eticket was emailed to you, you may find the Amadeus reference on it included under one of the QF or BA flights.

If you you had a QFF number entered into you booking, your Qantas segments should show on when logging on to Qantas.com and checking "Your Bookings".

Otherwise, call Qantas with details of your Qantas flights and they should be able to supply the Amadeus(Booking) reference. You can then use this with C/M/T.

You can also use Bookings - Manage Your Booking - Flight Booking as well.

thanks for the clarification.

ahhh, yes. i was wondering what the ref number under the terminal information was! thanks!:D

only thing is it's only there for QF,LA flights (I presume AA don't use it so I can't see those flights...). there's a separate one for CX flights, and none for JL...they use different systems again?

and i don't see any information on seat allocations (on checkmytrip) - where and when do i see these, or do i need to call up the airlines themselves to "request" a particular seat? (sorry if that seems like a silly question - this is new to me  )

uhhhh...what's C/M/T?

If you have the ticket number, (001-nnnn...) then plug it into this LAN utility along with your surname:

The Amadeus reference number should appear (note that LAN employ Amadeus as well). It is normally the same for QF/BA/LA flights on this type of booking.

CX will not show - you can't pull up CX segments unless you have an AsiaMiles/MPC number is in the booking.

can anyone help on the above? do i need to phone ahead to request a certain seat or are they already pre-allocated based on status? i'm just a poor bronze...

On CMT there is a + sign with "View Details" just below the list of flights I think - you should be able to view seating there :)

Is there any other way to check seat assignments on CX? I have tried calling the 131-747 number and have been on hold for 30 mins!

I am not Asia Miles/MPC member.

The ticket was booked through CX so I can't ask QF as I only have CX record locator.

My only experience with booking via CX was with E-mails. I got the seats I wanted with no issue.

If you have some BA segments in the ticket then you can plug the AA PNR into the BA site (MMB?) and it usually throws up the Amadeus booking.
Having said that, I have found that some AA sectors simply don't show up on Amadeus, which is rather disconcerting.

IME, for booking NOT made via QF, BA only those AA segments that connect from/to a QF/BA segment will show on checkmy trip, Qantas.com or BA.com.

E.g. I have a booking made via AA. This is what I see on AA.com:
Code:
MEL-(QF)-SYD-(QF)-JFK,
LGA-(AA)-ORD-(AA)-SEA,
SEA-(AA)-DFW-(AA)-ORD-(BA)-LON-(BA)-DBV,
DBV-(BA)-LON-(QF)-SIN,
SIN-(CX)-HKG
HKG-(CX)-BKK,
BKK-(CX)-HKG,
HKG-(CX)-NRT-(QF)-SYD,
SYD-(QF)-CNS,
CNS-(QF)-MEL
This is what I see on Qantas.com:
Code:
MEL-(QF)-SYD-(QF)-JFK,
DFW-(AA)-ORD-(BA)-LON-(BA)-DBV,
DBV-(BA)-LON-(QF)-SIN,
HKG-(CX)-NRT-(QF)-SYD,
SYD-(QF)-CNS,
CNS-(QF)-MEL

If it's booked via AA, goto AA.com, View Reservations -> Continue without logging in -> Enter your AA reference from the Eticket receipt and your details and it should display all of the seat allocations for ALL of your flights (Except QF domestic of course). If any are missing, call the AA RTW desk or local number and ask them to allocate you some seats.

Note your QFF number probably won't show up in the AA display.

That works for me.

If you are calling CX to check seat assignments in Aus, don't select "other enquiries". Select "fare enquiry/ticket sales".

It puts you through to a CX agent in less than a minute!!

It should not be a problem to call up the airlines and get seats allocated. You may not be able to get the best seats possible as each airline reserves some sections in each cabin for high status travellers.

Note that any seating changes made with the Amadeus record locater may not reflect on aa.com.

Be aware that once a certain proportion of seating has been pre-allocated in an international flight (~25%), Qantas will no longer allow preallocation for PAX without status.

So, the sooner you request your seating, the better.

Note that once you have a seat preallocated, it will show on C/M/T. Clicking the 'hot-link' embedded with the displayed seat number should show a seat map for your international Qantas flights.
