Hi all,
Better half flew from MEL to BNE today, when she got to the accommodation she noticed that the lock on her checked luggage had been removed and all the exterior pockets had been opened.
All that appears to be missing is some earplugs.
She called Virgin but they had no interest in this at all. (Being Platinum I was a bit pissed to hear that.)
Obviously we don't care about the earplugs, but should we contact someone else?
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Steve

I don't understand the problem-luggage is opened and inspected all the time? If there is any reason to open your baggage to look for drugs or explosives they will, irrespective of a lock. I never put anything in checked luggage that I'm not prepare to loose-valuables all carry on.

The problem is that we don't know if this was an inspection. In the US they at least place a card in your luggage saying it was inspected (and from my experience they shut all the pockets that are opened).

Plus they usually don't remove items. If they do, you usually have a nice chat with a rubber gloved TSA agent...

It could have been security but who is to say that this wasn't someone hoping to find something more interesting than earplugs.
