I was just putting in my details for the chauffeur pick up in Rome and wondered whether the chauffeur knows to drop the '0' at the beginning of the number after the country code at pick up time?

Any experiences with this.

Chauffer question

Yes, they work it out.

ps. Last time they picked me up in Rome they didn't even try to ring. I was a bit worried, called EK, and they assured me it was booked but wouldn't give me the chauffeur company details in Rome. Good news was they rocked up on time to pick me up.

No confirming phone call from the chauffeur company in Hong Kong for me either. Tried to call their office but it was closed. However my scepticism proved unfounded when at 4.50am the shiny S class was waiting for me.

Thanks for that shifty. I'm usually on CX out of Rome. It's first time departing FCO with EK and was concerned about the usual Roman chaos.

Quality - now this is what I'm talking about.
Why do they use those E-class wagons for QF F and EK F ex-DXB ?
Its their hub. If passengers from HKG gets S-classes then I would have thought DXB pax would get Phantoms !

I think only F gets a car in HK. It's not offered at all to J. At LHR it was another S class, but there, I believe, J has to slum it in an E class. There's a whole thread on Flyertalk on the cars used for different destinations by the various EK contractors.

Do QF use the same people as EK for the chauffeur cars in LHR ?
I'm on QF1 from DXB-LHR in March would love to get an S class.

I asked my (EK booked) driver whether he got many QF PAX, and he said "a few, but mostly Emirates" From that I would assume they do use the same company as I'm sure the two airlines together would be able to negotiate a better deal. I think he said he worked for Trident.

Everything worked out well - in a Roman sort of way.

I ended up with an E class.

I had opened the gate at the requested time to see if the car arrived early and found him managing to block a lane of traffic. He did have a phone out, so I'm not sure if he was trying to call. He ended up not speaking at all.

It was a rather swift trip with a race closer to FCO with another E class, reaching about 160km/h among slower moving traffic. It was rather hairy, even by Italian standards. I was dropped off at Terminal 3 despite EK check in being at Terminal 1 since the fire at Terminal 3.

EK use the Alitalia lounge which is pretty dire, but better than the dungeon otherwise known as the Le Anfore lounge.

Had a recent business class flight from Singapore to Melbourne. A 5 series BMW from the Singapore hotel to Changi. And despite a delayed arrival in Melbourne, possibly an hour behind schedule, a chauffeur waiting outside where you exit customs. In this case a black Mercedes Vito passenger van with heavily tinted windows. The chauffer told me it was the same van that "Hulk Hogan" had used and requesed during a recent Aussie visit. Neither chauffeur phoned my mobile.

Yes. Sole upsides being it was a Mercedes and there was plenty of room. Perhaps my wife and I should have booked separate cars and doubled our chances?
