Chauffer Drive on AAward in QF F

Hi guys

Have been reading the old thread on this and it seemed to offer differing outcomes - people had existing CD bookings cancelled (eg. US flights) and some others to LHR had CD cancelled and then reinstated.

I have booked 2 F AAwards (MEL-DXB-LHR) for 2016 and CD isn't available in MMB. I will also shortly purchase 2 F tickets for the same flights so presumably that will qualify and we can bundle the whole family into the one car.

Funnily enough, I booked the same thing a year ago and CD was available for all sectors in MMB for the QF F AAward flights. So I'm half expecting it to magically appear one day soon, unless anyone has more recent experience to squash my hopes.

My booking last year was made in late April 2014 (for March 2015 flights) so maybe the policy had changed after that date?

Can anyone clarify exactly what the current position of Qantas is?

What does your ticket number start with? Per the Qantas Chauffeur Drive Terms & Conditions:

Reservations for Chauffeur Drive through Qantas can be made for all eligible flights booked as part of a Qantas or Emirates ticket (starting with ticket number 081 or 176).

Yep, starts with 001, so obviously doesn't qualify. Qantas must have changed the CD policy after I booked the previous trip in April 2014.

Hopefully the 2 people on the AAward tickets can share the CD car with the 2 Qantas F ticket holders (which we will purchase) on each sector??

Unless the car is a large one you may have a problem with 4 people and bags. However I believe each paying passenger can reserve a separate car so you should qualify for 2 cars.

We booked F awards with AA miles in January for travel 3 weeks ago AKL-SYD-DXB-LHR-DUB and CD was always available in MMB,booked the CD about 3 weeks before we left,even got them to pick us up at SYD(we had a 9 hr transit)take us to a friends house and then return us to SYD a few hours later to catch our connecting F flight,guess it was just luck of the draw for us
