Hi

Just wondering if anyones knows the process/cost etc on changing a flight where you have used a complimentary platinum upgrade to business, if there is reward business availability on another flight you wish to change to is that how it is apllied? and what is the cost? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

In the past I've just swapped to another flight where there was reward availability. I don't *think* I paid a change fee (it's still under the fare rules as a flexi flight) but I might be misremembering.

Yes, done it very recently. No fee, only limitation is upgrade availability on that particular flight.

What you need in the first place is Business class award/upgrade availability in the flight(s) you wish to change to.

In the past no fee was assessed for such, but these days, even business revenue have a change fee.

I changed an award business booking a few weeks ago and was charged $35. In the past there had been none.

Very strange serfty - made my change about two weeks ago, and a fee was never even mentioned.

$35 sounds like the GCC fee for making any changes - I would have thought that would automatically be waived where the changes could not be made any other way (e.g. online), as is the case with Complimentary Platinum Upgrade bookings?

Fare rules have changed since the introduction of SABRE - I'm sure the Premium staff have some discretion.

The booking I mentioned was made in April.

In May I brought forward a PER-MEL flight to which a complimentary upgrade had been applied - this had been booked the previous June and the original (flexi) fare rules allowed such changes at no cost.

I suspect that by the end of January there will be none of the bookings under the old rules around and such charges may become the norm.

Do you get the Business Class status credits when you upgrade in this way or do you just get the SC you would have got under the Flexi Fare?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

In May I did as the promotion was still going.

I have not flown the one I paid $35 to change.
