Do any members have any experience with extended layovers in Changi?

I fly in at 05:30, and out at 23:30, so have 18 hours to kill...

inbound and outbound flights are both in J, so I'll have access to the SilverKris lounge.

Can I access the lounge upon landing, freshen up, spend the day in the city, then visit the lounge again before departure?

Cheers,
Eddie

Flying with Singapore? I believe you can check in 48 hours prior, so you'll have a BP - I can't see there would be any problem accessing the lounge prior to a day in the city. $5 return ticket on the MRT, it's all too easy.

That's fine.

Don't forget to claim your Changi dollar vouchers if you're flying with Singapore Airlines! 18 hours is plenty of time to spend them.

As MEL indicated you can come and go as often as you desire - heading into town with that length of conn would be well advised.

+1 - I have done exactly this, lounge on arrival, then city, back to lounge to pick up some supplies, night in airport hotel, back to lounge pre flight the next day. No issues at all as long as you have a bp.

Apologies for hijacking this thread, but I have a similar-ish question. I have a ~11 hour connection in SIN between arriving on SQ246 from BNE and leaving on MI608 to PNH - both business class on the same ticket.

The above suggestions have been quite good (collecting the Changi dollars and also going on one of the free singapore tours from the airport), however, I wanted to ask about lounge access. A thread from 2012 (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....sflyer/silkair-j-and-lounge-access-36193.html) suggests that Silkair business class passengers usually only get access to the Krisflyer Gold lounge (the Silkair site suggests that business passengers get access to the SATS lounge), however, that thread indicated that I may have access to Silverkris as the flight is part of a longer journey that includes long haul J with SQ. I only have VA Gold, so that won't get me into Silverkris on its own.

I was hoping some of you with more recent experience connecting SQ->MI could help me with the following questions:

1. Can I gain access to the Silverkris lounge on arrival in SIN by showing my SQ246 and/or MI608 boarding pass?
2. Does the fact that my SQ flight from BNE technically departed the previous day (at 2335) affect my eligibility to access the Silverkris lounge?
3. If I do one of the free Singapore tours, can I gain access to the lounge again after I return to the airport? I'm thinking that a shower might be a good idea after a day in Singapore.

Just to reply to my own post - sitting in the Silverkris lounge now waiting for my flight, after returning from the free Singapore tour. No problems whatsoever, with the exception of the staff at the T3 Silverkris lounge pointing out to me that my MI flight leaves from T2 and that I will need to allow time.
Also for future reference, I didn't need to show my original bp from Bne, the onward j bp to pnh was sufficient.

Thanks Cruiser Elite - we did end up going to the T2 SKL too. Found it sightly smaller with less food, but otherwise very similar as you said :).

Maybe someone familiar with Changi can answer my queries...........

We will be flying J with SQ JNB - SIN - MEL.
We depart JNB too early to do online check in for our SIN - MEL flight within the 48 hr window. This means we will not have our BPs for the second flight when we arrive in SIN where we arrive at 6am and have a 39 hr stopover.
Would we encounter any logistical problems with collecting our cases, then checking in at the desk to get our BPs (without dropping off our cases) and then going to the SilverKris Lounge for a shower and breakfast before heading into the city? Or would it be possible to head straight to the lounge on arrival and get our BPs there to allow us entry? We could then get our bags from the carousel on our way out.
What's the best plan?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

^The baggage carousel is after immigration, so you won't be able to collect your bags and then return to the lounge. I'd suggest heading to the lounge first and explaining your situation, they will probably let you in (suggest having a printed copy of your booking with you).

Alternatively, The Haven (located just to the right after exiting T3 baggage claim) is a good paid shower option. Costs about $16, I've used it a couple of times and the shower suites are clean, with decent water pressure.
