Changes to VA access to NZ lounges

Just arrived in Melbourne, a little early for the NZ lounge, so have checked into the Virgin lounge with my wife and stepson. We were welcomed but warned that access for plat members to NZ lounges had been severely reduced. Does anyone have any idea of this? The staff did not seem to know the details, just that it was reduced. VA website still says I can guest 3. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what route you're flying. VA made a heap of lounge changes a few months back. If flying across the Tasman, there is no change however.

Thanks, is trans Tasman, MEL to Auckland. Lady at front desk has confirmed can guest 2 into NZ lounge today. She apologised and said it was the Fiji flights that no longer gave access. Not trans Tasman.

Happily in the lounge, no problems and very friendly, so far better than the Melbourne SilverKris lounge we normally use.

That MEL lounge is the temporary one too. I believe the new one is due to open in 2-3 months.

No. The changes are so confusing, Sherlock Holmes would struggle with the pattern. VA are certainly out on a limb with this latest "surrogate alliance" bandaid. I trust you enjoy jigsaw puzzles?

Nah, not Sherlock ... The access page is pretty clear and is being kept up to date. Just need to review on each day if travel.
