This one has an ACA headline story written all over it: "My child was really looking forward to visiting their grandparents for school holidays but Qantas refused to let them on board because he/she had a ventolin puffer and we didn't have a letter from the doctor..."

If enforced, I bet it will catch some people out.

I wonder if the recent 'thunderstorm asthma' deaths were the reason for enhancing this policy?

But Ventolin is available over the counter, where does that stop. Hopefully, they are not doing children bag checks. I have a letter that I got from my doctor when I went to the UAE to cover everything so that they did not throw me in jail.

........err, how would they know? It's not like they go through every child's bag - or will they now be doing this??

Just think, someone from corporate / legal who has probably never even boarded an aircraft has come up with this beauty of a policy, maybe even got a pat on the back. pffft.

I am sure on the UMNR form one of the questions is a medical related one ... would be a very irresponsible parent not to complete that honestly and accurately

These type of policy changes normally happen after a incident, unfortunately not everyone is a responsible parent or has a child that knows what to do
